Having everyone on your team on the same page is crucial to a successful executive search. If you want to avoid unnecessary delays, confusion, or bad candidate experiences, stakeholders in the process—everyone from the executive team, hiring managers, and board, to any direct reports involved in the search—need to be aligned from the beginning. What exactly does that look like? ❓ Everyone should understand why this role is open 💼 Everyone should know what the ideal candidate brings to the table 🔎 Everyone should be clear on expectations for the search Proper alignment will result in a more efficient search process, a higher quality candidate experience, and better results.

When recruiter says… “Job portals are open on weekends and during holidays… “ Job seekers find it frustrating because - they are applying constantly - more than often times their resumes have been unnoticed let alone even getting an interview - internal employee will take precedence over anyone else and if the role can be filled internally, best to wait it out to open it up to external applicants if internal candidates are preferred (and they should be) - yes, companies are hiring but really, let’s be honest… how urgently do you need the position filled because so often the role is open for weeks with hundreds of applicants. - and no it’s not just the attitude that will get them the job … most of the time the feedback is (if shared) “hiring team found someone internal, someone who fit the role better (more skilled), or someone who fit the budget better.

If you have current vacancies in your company that you are filling and having applicant flow for, you should not leave them open-ended going into the weekend which is why today is CLOSE THE LOOP FRIDAY! Close the loop to create a positive candidate experience for individuals who are applying to or want to join your organization! If you are in a position or are directly responsible for hiring, we ask and challenge you/your team to reach out to all candidates in the process for your company and “close the loop” going into the weekend. But what if you don’t have an update on that specific candidate/applicant because you have other interviews or candidates in the flow? That doesn’t matter… What does matter is that you are creating a positive candidate experience (whether they will join your team or not) … and if you don’t know or have an update on your company’s end…that is ok…as no news, is news to candidates, they just want to know that and hear from someone with that “news”. If you need any assistance reach out to us! As always, we’re here to help with your staffing and recruiting needs.

29/30 I often have candidates reaching out to me to ask "What's the hold up? I applied forever ago!" I wish there was a cut and dry answer to this question- but I think as a candidate it's important to know sometimes- it's not you, it's us! Here are a handful of reasons that you might not be seeing movement on your application: - A hiring manager or member of the interview loop is OOO - Budgets are being re-evaluated - The hiring manager for the role took another opportunity and we first have to backfill that role before filling the positions that would report into that position - There's an extremely large candidate pool and a lot of people to evaluate - There are software or process changes that effect applicant tracking This job market is tough. Keep your head up! Keep applying! Keep showing up professionally in your interactions with recruiters and hiring managers! #NBCUHereYouCan

Hiring managers: if you start the job listing process, it is your responsibility to see it through. People who apply to jobs are putting themselves out there. They deserve to hear back from you. Even if it’s to say they’re not a good fit. Every applicant deserves a response.
