Our interns visited our Lima production facility this week, learning about food production and watching us turn potatoes, butter, milk and salt into delicious Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes. Seeing food production in person brings to life many of the principles our interns are learning about in college, like Lean Manufacturing principles, staffing, training and management practices. Suggestions for the company from an ESG perspective 🚘On the way to the presentation, I was in the car with our supervisor. He shared his thoughts on interns with me. He said, "Your opinions are not whimsical; everything you share or propose helps us think outside the box. We've been here for 8 years or more, and things might start to feel routine. However, times have changed, and there are always improvements to be made. We need your fresh perspective! Your opinions are valuable." He gently added, "I know you might want some time to review the presentation. Let’s listen to some study music." Last week Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling celebrated National Intern Day! We value and appreciate the impact our 40 plus Interns are having on the company through their projects and initiatives by using their creativity, problem solving skills, continuous improvement mindsets and academic learnings. We are thankful they chose Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling to gain their internship experience from! Having an Internship Program is an important avenue for bringing early talent into the company! The goal is to convert Interns into full-time employees upon graduation! One of the Internship Program events is a Former Intern Panel. The Panel is an excellent way to recognize the fantastic Former Interns that work for Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling as a result of their successful internships as well as showcase for the current Interns the career opportunities. #Announcement - Applications open for the APB Culinary Chronicling Internship program - 2023/4! I am a little late this year but it's time! This program offers 4 deserving canidates an opportunity to work in the field of Culinary Chronicling with me and my firm A Perfect Bite Consulting. Accepted candidates can look forward to being mentored by me personally. You will be exposed to some really exciting live projects, learn on the job, interact with some seriously cool people in the Indian food industry and gain valuable experience. Through its existence, we'd always fostered interns at APB Cook Studio informally, but the pandemic catalysed me to formalise that experience into an internship program. What began as an experiment, became an extremely enriching experience for me too. Mentoring is something I've always taken very seriously. In my opinion and experience (especially observing my son and his cousins who are doing internships currently) too many internships treat interns as cheap or unpaid labour, and expect young people to be grateful for the opportunity. But really, if we reap what we sow, then what are we sending out into the world by doing this? I realised a while ago, that I would love to work with people like myself, so I might as well empower young minds to think and operate like me... I, myself have been incredibly fortunate in the mentors I found in my early years. I am what I am because of their investment in me. And this internship program means paying that forward, by investing time, energy, and patience in being a teacher, guide, role model, but also a friend, motivator, and facilitator who opens up doors for her mentees' own potential. It has worked fabulously this far. Our interns have gone on to become noted writers, researchers, food consultants and work at places like Big Bazaar, The Locavore, Noon, and more, many continue to work with me as proffessionals.
