For corporate credit investors, one notable development has been the sharp rebound in strategic M&A activity in 4Q2023 – which has continued into early 2024. We believe this has, to a large extent, been driven by clarity on path for U.S. policy rates and increased optimism related to the macroeconomic backdrop.   The same cannot be said, however, for transaction volumes in the commercial real estate (CRE) market, which have yet to rebound. An uptick in transaction volumes will be a necessary ingredient to bring about the longer-term valuation reset that we anticipate in certain CRE categories, such as office. That said, the backdrop will remain highly dispersed and nuanced, as has been the case for the past few quarters. https://1blk.co/4c1NARF
