Decarbonization Partners, a joint venture between Singapore's Temasek and global asset manager BlackRock, has closed its first fund at US1.4 billion, aimed at decarbonisation technologies. The fund drew over 30 institutional investors globally, including pension funds, insurance companies, and high net-worth individuals. Contributing US$600 million in initial capital, Temasek and BlackRock aim to catalyse investment in climate technologies. The fund, adhering to the EU's Article 9 for positive societal and environmental impact, is investing in companies ready for scale in areas like sustainable materials, clean hydrogen, and carbon management. Investments are largely in the U.S. but expected to expand into Asia-Pacific. Despite rising capital costs and a more cautious investment climate compared to 2020-2021, there remains strong interest in high-potential decarbonisation ventures, with a focus on long-term growth and partnership between investors and entrepreneurs.
