My #1 Tip for Loan Originator Survival in 2024: Don’t be the problem. Be the solution. An alarming increase in the percentage of my pipeline coming in from Originators who couldn’t get the job done. In some cases- it’s the limitations of the company they work for (fair enough) this comes from the lack of the product, or strict underwriting overlays. In some cases it’s a slightly complex problem that takes some brain storming to solve. This stems from the lack of support of a team to give you a second set of eyes (sometimes thats all it takes) And sadly, in a few it’s a lack of understanding of guidelines. This stems from the inability to simply just ask for help. You don’t always need to know all the answers, but knowing how to recognize a problem and go find the answers is huge. Every deal matters these days. Simply- find a way to be the solution.

I am excited about this because it will streamline approvals and help us to quantify our underwritten risk for each deal.
