Episode 6 of The Bloomery is out now and this time, we're talking about personality tests in the workplace. There are lots of thoughts about personality and communication tests in the workplace and both Tamara Buckland and Nicola Shute have OPINIONS to share. In this episode, we explore lots about the harm that personality tests can cause at work and how we might be able to get around that and use these sorts of tools in ways that are helpful. If we can't use them helpfully, maybe we should just chuck them out? Keen to hear your thoughts as you listen to this episode 😍 https://lnkd.in/gE69iFcz

Dado CEO, Arielle K., spoke on Venture Visionaries with Thomas Igeme The key message: people leaders need to think like rockstars. 🎸 At Dado, we believe HR can have nice things too. Unfortunately, when making purchase decisions, people leaders limit their requests to what’s available. The problem is that most HR tools are stuck in the past. Rockstars disregard limitations, harness their imagination, and ask for what they truly want. HR can and should do the same. Check out the episode to learn more.

In the previous episode of 'Why Work?,' Sibs Sibanda and Paul Kim discussed Dorothy Sayers' first proposition, stating that work is what we were created to do, not just something we have to do. In this episode, they explore the implications of this concept for how we balance work and rest and how we can take pride in the quality of our work. Sayers suggests that rest isn't just about recovering from past work; it can also be a way to prepare for future work. You can listen to this insightful episode here: https://lnkd.in/dkxU7JSZ

Just like weeding out unfit prospective clients, I like to weed out unfit prospective team members… 👋 Here’s how: bury a specific task within the job application to see who pays attention (because attention to detail is one of the most important things to have when working in an accounting firm!) For example, tell the applicant to use a special subject line when they email their application. You’ll be surprised how many people ignore that detail. If they don't take the time to thoroughly read a job description, then I won’t take the time to interview them🤷♀️ Hear more about how to find quality team members in Ep 147 🎙️ ➡️ Comment PODCAST for the link to the episode!

Tldr: Bad tactics come from bad strategy. Or rather no strategy at all. Jeff Smith and I will discuss how companies can think differently (and better) in episode 84 of The 10 Minute Talent Rant, "Does Anyone Actually Have A Talent Strategy?"
