#BillGates has been involved in various philanthropic initiatives in #Africa through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. His investments in Africa are primarily directed towards improving healthcare, education, and addressing poverty-related issues. The goal on the surface of things is to make a positive impact on the lives of people in the region. Of course, Bill Gates claims that these investments are philanthropic in nature, with the aim of addressing societal challenges rather than generating personal profit for himself. Welp, in order for him to prove that he should put all his activities on the #blockchain. 📣 The Blockchain for Human Rights (BCHR) Partnership Launch and Panel Discussions took place on the 12 April 2024 at the Impact Hub Zürich, Switzerland and the short video on the second panel discussion is already out 🎥 We had an amazing online group of experts in the Second Panel discussion, moderated by Mercedes Rodriguez Símon, cofounder Ethereum Venezuela, with the participation of Mr. Yodahe Zemichael, Executive Director, National ID Ethiopia; Dr. José-María Arraiza, legal identity and human rights specialist; Ms. Marianne Diaz Hernández, running the Digital ID project at AccessNow; Mr. Muhammad Noor, founder of Rohingya Project; Second panel conclusions: Dr. Philippe Page, Human Colossus Foundation; and Kaliya IdentityWoman Young from San Francisco, who spontaneously joined the panel. The Blockchain for Human Rights Partnership with Apatride Network (led by Aleksejs Ivashuk), Save My Identity SMID (represented by me, cofounder and VP), Coalition for Venezuela (represented by Nancy Arellano Suárez, VP), and The Rohingya Project (led by Muhammad Noor) was possible thanks to the support of Prof. Hubert Klumpner (ETHZ - Urban-Think Tank next). Anissa Boukoffa (Msc) and Jessica Schmieder supported the event's good performance. We had 44 persons online, as per the read.ai report and around 50 persons were present at the BCHR launch, which makes a total of 94 persons attending and engaging. We had six panelists in the first panel discussion in-person and five panelists in the second panel discussion connected from #Ethiopia, #Malaysia, #Spain, the #USA, and #Venezuela. Two additional speakers presented the conclusions of the panels. I moderated the event, except for the second panel discussion. Four persons took care of the event's logistics. This event was possible thanks to the support of five sponsors: The Hasler Stiftung, the Latin American Center Zürich at the University of Zurich, the Impact Hub Zürich, the Österreichisches Kulturforum and the ETHZ (L200). #blockchain4humanrights #digitalid #zurich #blockchain #decentralisedidentity #selfsovereignid #refugees #migrants #stateless #sdg16 Stay tuned 📲 👩💻 🎤

It’s not about whether a person is capable, but whether they have the resources to demonstrate that capability. Robinson Muiru, all the way from Africa, gets this. He’s in tune with the evolving role of technology in education. More than just talking, he’s putting his efforts into action. Education is limited in many parts of the world, but Muiru is committed to making sure his students aren’t left behind, bringing AI to Africa. Let’s lend our support. Donations, GPUs, servers, computers – anything helps these students. It’s also a call to action for America’s educational system: It’s time to integrate and evolve. #edtechinnovation #africa #genai

Some interesting stats I came across today: The pace of aging, as measured by the DunedinPACE epigenetic clock, was accelerated in individuals with low levels of education, and slowed in those with higher levels of education. -Jana Network Ethereum, the second-biggest blockchain after Bitcoin, activated its much-anticipated "Dencun" upgrade, a move to spur growth on so-called layer-2 networks like Arbitrum and Polygon, by reducing their data fees.-CoinDesk A record 7.6% of U.S. adults now identify as LGBTQ and Gen Z is by far more likely to identify as LGBTQ than any other generation. -Axios On this day in 1781, astronomer William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus. Herschel’s discovery of a new planet was the first to be made in modern times, and also the first to be made by use of a telescope. -History Channel

The most interesting discussion on society building is today found in the crypto world. This is where you find the most original new ideas on how society could be restructed. That is why I love the crypto world. The reason, I think, is that blockchain infrastructure brings completely new possibilities for how humans can interact, coordinate efforts and govern societies. These new means get peoples imagination and innovation going and the result is often astonishing, in both good and bad ways. The discussion linked (Ethereum funder Vitalik Buterin & economist Noah Smith) on authoritarianism vs liberal democracies doesn't even touch on BC and crypto, rather the thing is... stuff like this is considered mainstram in a crypto pod! Pretty cool. Super interesting discussion too, recommended.

Excited to be joining the online discussion panel on blockchain-based identity solutions during the launch of the Blockchain for Human Rights Platform. Undoubtedly, vulnerable communities such as refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, stateless individuals, and other forcibly displaced persons, are facing systemic discrimination more often than not due to the lack of access to alternative ID solutions that are not government-issued. Furthermore, it's heartbreaking to discover how one of the biggest pain points for most venezuelan migrants in neighboring countries in LATAM, is the lack of access to their right of identity and therefore a complete lost of financial independence as most traditional financial services have over complicated processes that have failed to adapt to newer problems and societal needs. Fortunately, there are some groundbreaking projects worldwide working on these kind of solutions while focusing on scalability to achieve the so-called mainstream adoption we often like to refer to while giving big speeches on how we are supposed to change the world through technology; well this is it! this is how we do it. Hope to see you all there! Save the date. 🤝

Central to Buterin's analysis is the concept of game theory, particularly around the notion of legitimacy—a powerful social force that governs the allocation of resources within these blockchain ecosystems. By exploring scenarios from the Steem and Hive saga to the workings of NFTs, Buterin illustrates how legitimacy, born out of social contracts and collective agreement, shapes the flow of capital and the acceptance of various blockchain-related actions and decisions https://lnkd.in/ecP_GmuM - For the Chain, By the Community: Building Equity in Every Block: Degen-Communism for the Collective Run! 🔗🌍🤝💡
