So something rather exciting has happened!!!! Beyond proud of the work we do for our young people #theirfutureisourbusiness Hartsdown Academy is proud to be shortlisted in the UK Student Social Mobility Awards 2024. This nomination comes in recognition of our commitment to social mobility across the school and specifically with our Careers & Outreach Programme through which we strive to raise the aspirations and guidance for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The Student Social Mobility Awards are open to all UK secondary schools and sixth form colleges. They recognise secondary schools or colleges that have made outstanding efforts to boost the career aspirations of students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. This could be through the creation or adoption of programmes that serve to broaden career horizons, boost aspirations or facilitate the future success of students. The SSMAs were launched by upReach in 2018 to celebrate schools, colleges and individuals breaking the mould on raising student aspirations and recognises especially feats of academic prowess, spearheading initiatives that drive meaningful social change, and securing work experience or graduate roles in a range of sectors. Nominees' achievements come in the face of formidable socio-economic challenges, making them all the more remarkable. Winners will be announced at Mansion House in London on 18th July.

I don't think folks truly understand how powerful the Michigan Global Talent Initiative ($5 million of annual state funding to ensure immigrant talent helps us reach our Sixty by 30 goals, adding 100,000 college-educated immigrants to Michigan's workforce). Last week we re-launched a statewide skilled immigrant integration program ensuring that foreign-trained and educated immigrant professionals had individualized job coaching, Upwardly Global software licenses and more. This $1 million program ensures every foreign-trained and educated professional in Michigan has the support they need to thrive. https://lnkd.in/gu3aVzMN
