🌟 World IBD Day 19th May 2024 🌟 This World IBD Day on May 19th 2024, it's essential to talk about the challenges faced by individuals battling Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. These conditions impact the lives of millions of people worldwide. It’s been 8 years since my diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis and 6 years next month I had my large intestine removed and my permanent Ileostomy. Despite these obstacles, I created a Facebook group IBD Runners & Riders that now has over 1,500 members ( https://lnkd.in/e2jteuFV) this community gives support and advice to those with IBD who still maintain an active lifestyle through any type of physical activity. With the love and support of my family since my operation I have completed many challenges raising awareness of Crohn’s & Colitis ranging from the Cardiff Half, Ride London and more recently Long Course Weekend and Ironman Wales. For those seeking more support, organisations like Crohn's and Colitis UK (Crohn's & Colitis UK ) are amazing. Their website offers valuable information, debunking myths surrounding IBD and providing crucial support for those navigating this journey. Myths include - - It's not that bad, it's just a dodgy tummy right? - Having fatigue is the same as being tired. You can just 'shake it off' or get an early night. - You can't have Crohn's or Colitis - you don't look unwell? When I saw you last, you were fine... - If you ate differently, then you'd be cured! As I approach 10 years since my Parkinson's diagnosis I discuss how much Carbidopa/Levodopa I take, what I call my Carbidopa/Levodopa evolution.
