College degrees used to be worth a lot.
US graduates leave college with $30k of debt on average.
Is this debt 'worth' it when college education is not sufficiently preparing many young people to enter the ever-changing business environment?
Moreover, college education used to be (generally) sufficient to prepare someone for their career, period.
Now, lifelong learning and upskilling are ongoing requirements.
Over the last several years, Google, Microsoft, Amex, and other major enterprises have taken college degree requirements off many job requirements.
Skills not schools are the focus.
Early career professionals are still getting educated (in fact, for much longer).
They are still developing the range of qualifications and certifications they need to be competitive in the job marketplace and or start their own businesses.
They just aren't necessarily going to college to get the knowledge, skills, and expertise they need.
The non-corporate Creator Economy also offers an important 'parallel' field of opportunities for young workers where you can learn and earn.
NB: We can also try and fix how much US college education costs and make it easier to choose to go to college!
