Maintaining composure during challenging times is crucial. Never engage in wordplay, even if your managers humiliate you with their own wordplay, as depicted in the video. Navigating the professional world, particularly as a young Indian working for a MNC or on a visa in a foreign country, can be a journey filled with both highs & lows. It is essential to handle negative reviews and terminations with grace and resilience, maintaining your innocence.
When treated poorly in a company, avoid displaying attitude towards management, as seen in the video where someone suggests starting their own business and being their own boss. Even if you achieve success in your own venture, it's crucial to isolate yourself from companies and people who've have exploited you. At most, when filling out termination/exit forms, express gratitude for the opportunity and mention looking forward to potential future collaborations with the company. Leave all other fields in the termination form blank. Here are a few pieces of advice to help you navigate this situation with grace and resilience:
1. Stay Calm & Reflect. It's natural to feel a range of emotions, including shock, disappointment, and even frustration. However, try to avoid reacting impulsively. Resist the temptation to burn bridges or express your frustration. Just file your termination documents in your folders for life.
2. DO NOT seek feedback from your managers, HR or even your cubicle & lunch-time buddies who are all happy where they are. However, if they provide you unsolicited feedback, politely say 'I understand.' even if you do not agree because you might need their references & phone numbers for your future endeavors.
3. Update Your Network. Inform your professional network about the change in your employment status. Networking is a powerful tool, and you never know where your next opportunity might come from.
4. Depending on your visa status, there may be specific considerations or requirements. Familiarize yourself with the regulations and consult with relevant resources, such as legal advisors, insurance advisors etc., to understand the implications and explore available options. NEVER STAY ILLEGALLY IN ANY COUNTRY!
5. Embrace Resilience. Understand that setbacks are a natural part of any career journey. Embrace resilience & be kind towards your curious family because you can't change them like you change jobs. Remember that your journey is defined by how you handle challenges & bounce back from them.
Exploitation or termination is a common experience. So, just view it as a stepping stone rather than a stumbling block. Just like you exercise your muscles, exercise your mind for resilience to overcome career challenges. If you need support or guidance, don't hesitate to reach out to AI chatbots, mentors, friends, or even Psychologists. Ultimately, who you choose to be in your life is upto you.
