🤔 Today we're exploring the answers to the question "At what age should I or my child see an orthodontist?" Read on to learn more! ➡️ 🩵 No later than seven years old! The American Association of Orthodontics recommends a visit to the orthodontist at the recognition of an orthodontic problem - and no later than age 7. But if your child is older, start now! 💙 Why so early? As kids grow and develop, their teeth and bone structure change, too! At age 7 there is a mix of primary and permanent teeth and having an orthodontic evaluation at age 7 can identify some pretty interesting things! 🩵 What do orthodontists look for? Our orthodontists will do a complete exam of your child's mouth to determine if there are any current orthodontic issues - or any that can be prevented with an early treatment method. Often times no treatment is recommended at age seven! 💙 Why visit if treatment won't begin? The only way to determine if your child needs intervention is through a complimentary consultation. A visit at this early age establishes your family in our practice and allows us to monitor your child's growth and development so treatment can begin at the exact right time for them! 🩵 P.S. These early visits are complimentary! All visits with us are complimentary when monitoring your child's growth and development! If they don't need treatment just yet, we'll continue to see them on a regular basis until they are ready for treatment. And we won't recommend starting treatment until it's absolutely necessary - we want treatment to be as comfortable and efficient as possible! 💙 Was this helpful? What other questions do you have? Be sure to share this post with your friends and save this it so you can refer to it later! #MellionSmiles

It's never too late for braces! While it's ideal to get them when you're young, it's still possible as you get older. Younger teeth adjust more easily to straightening. However, older teeth can still be adjusted; the only difference is that it may take longer. . . #bracestreatment #teethbraces #bracesbeforeandafter #saraswatidentalcollege #dentalcollege #collegeinluckow #dentalcollegeinup #lucknow

Great news for the children of Guernsey, tooth decay is declining! In a most recent survey conducted in 2023, 11% of children showed signs of tooth decay – a decrease from 14% in a previous survey. Every five years the CDS (Children’s Dental Service) carries out in-depth research on young children’s teeth in the hope to further understand and improve tooth decay. Screening checks are carried out in reception and Year 6 each year and they also teach children in early years, Year 3, and Year 7 how to look after their teeth. Do we need to see an organisation like the CDS in schools within the UK? Could this improve tooth decay in children on a larger scale? ABCs OF KIDS’ ORAL CARE: WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT? Did you know that healthy milk teeth are a precursor to healthy permanent teeth? 🧠 Unfortunately, milk teeth are super susceptible to cavities. Their enamel is only half as thick as that of adult teeth and the tooth structure is less mineralised. 🧠 Cavities that develop in milk teeth can also infect the adult teeth that follow. 🧠 If a milk tooth has to be extracted due to poor dental care, it can cause a shift in the formation of the child’s future teeth. Ensuring your kids take proper care of their teeth when they are young is a sure-fire way of having a shining smile late in life.
