On World Health Day, we take you to Sanch Dhamni, a scenic village in southern Gujarat. Part of the Valsad district, it is far from the industries that the district is known for. Dharampur, the closest town, is 30 kms away and Valsad city, an additional 20. Cities do mean better healthcare, but they may not always be easy on the pocket or reliable. Additionally, there is the matter of transport, stay and food: the expenditure for even a single trip out of this hilly landscape can be substantial for a low-income family. Ashaben is part of this village. She knew that even as a community health worker, she could contribute notably to the healthcare of her community. Was there a way that she could access such training? What if there was an application that could help her access doctors not just in Valsad and Dharampur but even beyond? Could it help her with her livelihood? Listen to her experience as an Arogya Sevika under Ekal Abhiyan's Telemedicine-Enhanced Arogya programme (supported by Intelehealth) and the way in which it has answered these questions for her and her community. The programme was carried out in partnership with the Arogya Foundation of India. Healthcare institutions often struggle to operate efficiently due to limited access to resources. But, with the right support, they can thrive. Something similar happened in Madhya Pradesh when 181 healthcare centres received a helping hand through the Madhya Pradesh Health System Strengthening Project. The project had a simple yet powerful plan: to improve daily operations, empower frontline workers, and embrace digital tools. For this responsibility, the state trusted Collectives for Integrated Livelihoods Initiatives (CInI), an organisation supported by the Tata Trusts. CInI's team helped streamline processes, upskill the local doctors, and adopt technology in daily operations. They organised wellness activities with ASHA workers and Community Health Officers to improve the community's healthcare-seeking behaviour. Gradually their efforts bore fruits. The efficiency and high-quality healthcare offered by the Centers assured the communities that care is within reach. During a recent visit to a rural area, I encountered an "Ayushman Mandir" (Health Centre under Ayushman Bharat Scheme) with excellent infrastructure. However, it was evident that the Centre had not been operational for a long time, given the garbage surrounding it and lock during operation hours. This situation underscores a critical challenge: the lack of staff to run these Centres. Healthcare professionals and administrators often prioritize urban areas, leaving rural regions—where the need is often greater—neglected. This results in wasted resources and underutilized facilities. To truly benefit from schemes like Ayushman Bharat, we must focus on better management and implementation, ensuring that these initiatives are not just conceptualized and declared on paper but are effectively brought to life to serve those in need. #AyushmanBharat #Healthcare #RuralHealth #BetterManagement #ImplementationMatters #HealthcareForAll

In a remote village in Kanpur, Rajkumari Devi, a tea tribe woman, faced a life-threatening battle with anemia while delivering her first child. Sadly, Rajkumari's story is not unique. 🌿 A revealing study by UNICEF and local health organizations highlights: Out of 14 meals consumed weekly by a rural family, only two are nutritional. Additionally, a sample study by UNICEF found that a significant percentage of women in these rural areas are anemic. Anemia isn't confined to rural women only; it is a widespread issue across many rural populations. At EzeRx, we recognize the urgent need for early detection and intervention to combat this silent epidemic. 🚨 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚: Our point-of-care devices, EzeCheck, provide quick and accurate screening for anemia. It was an honor to meet Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of Ports ,Shipping and Waterways. Government of India ,and Ayush along with @Dr. K Satya Lakshmi ma'am at National Institute of Naturopathy in Pune last year. Our discussion highlighted the healthcare challenges faced by tribal communities and the importance of Naturopathy in their overall well-being. Despite the care provided, tribals still face barriers such as social taboo, poverty, and cultural obstacles. Improving tribal health in India requires addressing disparities in health-seeking behavior and healthcare access among indigenous groups. It's crucial to value the contributions of traditional healers within tribal communities and promote health literacy programs to empower them in making informed decisions about their health. Healthcare extends beyond hospitals; it involves understanding the complex factors that influence community health outcomes. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and equitable healthcare landscape for all. #HealthcareEquity #TribalHealth #CommunityWellbeing

38.2% of ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists) and 34.9% of AWWs (Anganwadi Workers) faced signal connectivity issues while using digital healthcare tools. This digital divide not only hinders their ability to deliver critical services but also creates inequities in healthcare access for marginalized communities. Special Article by Jean Dreze, Reetika Khera, and Rishabh Malhotra | The findings of a recent survey of public health centres in five north Indian states (Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan) are presented, in light of earlier surveys in the same areas from 2002 onwards. Contrary to a common narrative whereby public health services in India have “collapsed,” there is a general pattern of improving quality and utilisation over time. The pace of improvement, however, is far from adequate. The recent conversion of many health centres into health and wellness centres, in particular, has been largely cosmetic so far. In states like Bihar and Jharkhand, the standards of healthcare in public facilities remain abysmal. Hope lies in the experiences of states that have shown how decent standards of healthcare can be achieved in the public sector, notably Himachal Pradesh. Even in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, there have been valuable initiatives in recent years. https://lnkd.in/guzFGKx3
