Here's a photo of a custom formwork design by Berns Infrastructure being constructed inside a cofferdam for a US Army Corps project. These forms were used to construct pier nose extensions to divert river water around existing bridge piers. The extensions were constructed in 3 (vertical) lifts, with subgrade approximately 30' below the ground surface. The forms were designed to be reusable and consisted of 3/4" B-B plyform, 4x6 studs, and doubled steel channel wales. Perhaps the greatest challenge of this design was to accommodate non-standard angles in the extension wall face and a 45-degree inclination of the front of the nose. #formwork #infrastructure #construction #concrete #carpentry #heavycivil #concreteforms #engineering #constructionengineering #civilengineering #AGC #ASCE
