Thanks to everyone who came out for our Drive Thru Difference Day in mid-May to help raise funds for the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department in Wisconsin! We, along with Farmers State Bank of Waupaca, were able to donate a total of $3000 to the department to help focus on mental health awareness and programs.

I always liked to think I was nonjudgemental, curious and open-minded about homelessness, but then a couple of years ago I began working closely with the amazing Your Place (formerly Caritas Anchor House). It wasn't until then that I really understood the complexity of the issue. Sure, I'd spoken to quite a few people, mainly here in Brighton, who were experiencing homelessness. But every person is different. Every person's circumstances are distinct. And the crises and issues affecting many people without a home are not always visible at street level. What's common across all of their situations is abject inequality, a discriminatory and dehumanising system, and the breakdown of community and health services. Through that immersive work with Your Place, what I experienced as a uniquely person-centred community (not a handout, leg-up or even a "lifestyle choice"), I got to reflect on and recognise the nature of my unconscious bias around what is a deeply stigmatised systemic social problem. And the home secretary's dangerous viewpoint is a big part of that problem. (Whether or not it was a tactical provocation and political manoeuvre on her part...) It's the wider ideology of our society — and its cultivation of an individualistic, self-serving mindset — that is hopeless, not people who're homeless. #oneperson #homelessness #housingcrisis #housingreform #socialreform
Over the weekend the Home Secretary said that homelessness is a “lifestyle choice”, and we couldn’t disagree more. We joined 14 other charities to tell the Home Secretary why her stance was so misguided and concerning, and how what’s needed is empathy, compassion and a commitment to providing meaningful support for those who find themselves without a home. Winter is coming! And its New England so "Winter" could literally mean anything. If you are facing financial insecurity, or without a house/home, this season is particularly harrowing. During this season I will be working to connect our Generators to opportunities with Somerville Homeless Coalition to donate their time to some community service, and later this month, to donate warm winter clothing and high-need items. Being a good neighbor is checking to make sure their plates are full, and offering a warm coat before they need to ask. We're here to do both! Generate: Time - to acts of service Generate: Service - towards our neighbors and communities Generate: Warmth - to keep our community safe from the turbulent winter season. #generatetime #generateservice #generatewarmth #communityoutreach

The walk starts at 11:30AM Many many of you helped last year with donations to my fund raising. I'm asking again if you can help prevent a suicide and support research into suicide. Please donate what you can. Did you know? The construction industry has one of the highest suicide rates among professions — with the rate among male construction workers 75% higher than men in the general population. 6,000 construction workers died by suicide in 2022 and increase from 2021. It is incredibly important that independently-conducted and objective research is informing policy and practice change. The approach taken by the OVA should set the standard for all Government Departments.
📢 We have funded 3 independent reports by Robert Gordon University, Combat Stress: The UK's Leading Charity for Veterans' Mental Health & The Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University to investigate how the government & charities can improve access to care for female veterans. 👇 Sarah Atherton MP discusses how our upcoming Women Veterans’ Strategy will implement their findings.

TOGETHER WE CAN END VOILENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN As you might know, this year we've decided to raise funds for Polished Man campaign in October to help end violence against women and children. You might be wondering, where does the money we raise go? Prevention: One crucial and sustainable strategy for violence prevention is income and economic strengthening. Polished Man provides funds to programs by ygap, that aim to improve families’ economic security which evidence has shown can reduce domestic and family violence. ygap’s work also strengthens norms and values that support non-violent, respectful, positive and gender equitable relationships shown to reduce violence against women and children. Recovery: While we deeply believe in trauma prevention as the key to ending violence against women and children, we know that so many have experienced trauma already. That’s why Polished Man supports trauma recovery programs that help survivors recover and shape their own futures. Funds raised go to: Rize Up Australia. By funding both trauma prevention and recovery programs, we are able to improve the lives of survivors now, while building a safer future for tomorrow. To support this incredible cause, you can click the image below to donate to our fundraiser. Every dollar counts. If you're unable to contribute financially, we would greatly appreciate your support by sharing the link below.

Our approach to rehabilitating our juvenile offenders combines Faith, Hope and Love. FAITH - We believe that God has equipped each of our youth with exactly what they need to succeed. JIFF's mission is to help them realize that potential inside of them through Christ. HOPE - Due to a lack of opportunities, many of our youth feel extreme hopelessness. We combat this by encouraging them to create their own life plan and supporting them in pursuing that plan. LOVE - We believe that there are no "bad" youth, regardless of their actions. We consistently show them that they are loved WHERE they are and for WHO they are. It works! ___ Help us help them: -> Become a mentor: https://lnkd.in/e2eZk6NF -> Donate: www.JiffYouth.org/donate -> Spread the word: www.JiffYouth.org JIFF: Juvenile Intervention and Faith-Based Follow Up #JIFF #JiffYouth
