As we head into #LabourDay I think of #seniors who worked their whole lives to now find themselves struggling to pay for food & rent, seek a new place to live for the fist time in decades at exorbitant rents. So I ask you to consider donating to Pacifica’s Senior Support Fund. In Victoria, supporting the fund means helping us continue to provide eviction prevention services, #housing and financial navigation, direct short-term support such as decluttering and food access. In Nanaimo it also means directly providing affordable housing that includes meals and light supports for vulnerable seniors who can’t live independently but don’t qualify for long term care. At the Pacifica Seniors Lodge our residents are between 77 and 98 years old and 25 of them came to us directly from homelessness. There are many needs in our #community but this one in particular is becoming harder for us to meet with skyrocketing need met with rising service delivery costs (such as food).
