The world final between the Boston Celtics and Panathinaikos BC would be an unprecedented clash of basketball titans from different continents, each representing rich histories and passionate fanbases. The Boston Celtics, a powerhouse of the NBA, bring decades of championship pedigree, the Celtics symbolize excellence in American basketball. On the other side, Panathinaikos BC, one of Europe's most successful basketball clubs, hails from Athens, Greece. With a fervent following known for creating a formidable atmosphere in their home arena, the Greens have dominated the EuroLeague scene with multiple championships. Their roster typically includes top European talent alongside international stars, showcasing a blend of skill, strategy, and passion. (Of a total of 231 teams) The top 5 Crossroad League teams include: Huntington University, Grace College & Seminary, University of Saint Francis, Marian University Indianapolis, and Indiana Wesleyan University. Comparing the top 5 Crossroads League teams with national NAIA team averages: all teams had similar number of possessions (83), free throw rate (13%/12%) and number of three point field goals per game (8/7.4). The most exciting and newest basketball tournament is taking place this fall, 2024 USBC. What I am grateful for is the fact the USBN is changing and improving professional basketball in America. Yes, the USA is home to the National Basketball Association (NBA), the world’s league. But what about the hundreds of other teams that exist and the thousands and thousands of other players that just miss the NBA cut but don’t leave America to go overseas? Where can these teams and players be seen? Where can these players have a chance after college to continue their developmental process that could one day allow them to step onto an NBA court? Where does the next generation of basketball players and their family go to see a game if they cannot afford the cost of an NBA game? Through the USBN, you can find professional basketball teams and pro basketball players that exist and operate in many communities throughout the Nation that exist outside the NBA. Lebron James is not giving up his chair on the NBA court. If you are a graduating college basketball player, this means you might have to wait longer for your chance. USBN wants to make sure these players can continue to play, continue to develop, continue to improve, continue to follow their dream of one day making it to the top, the greatest, the best League in the world, the NBA. But with only 30 teams, and 450 players for the entire planet. If you don’t make it, it doesn’t mean you are not good enough, there is just someone on this planet a little better. And it should not mean you have to give up on your lifetime’s work and dream.
