Does it make a difference if kids attend the arts in a school group or with their family? Turns out the answer is yes. As Joe Patti recently summarized on his blog: “Colleen Dilenschneider and the folks at IMPACT released some data about whether school group visits to exhibit and performance-based experiences translate into visitation as adults: ‘People who visited as children with their families generally do find cultural organizations to be welcoming, while folks who visited with groups are somewhat on the fence when considered as a collective. Perhaps the most jarring finding is the lack of significant difference in welcoming perceptions among those who visited with school groups (or other groups) and those who did not visit as children at all. Visiting a cultural organization with a group generally did not impact attitude affinities as an adult.’ In the context of this data, it seems even more important to reflect on how we can make it easier for families to make the decision to attend. Facilitating the ease of decision-making requires examining every aspect of the experience from programming, promotion, ticketing experience, parking, the welcome, concessions, and the departure.” https://lnkd.in/eCWYjysc Read the IMPACTS analysis (subscription required) : https://lnkd.in/e53f3PEv #SweibelArts #AudienceDevelopment

Absolutely riveting discussions on the state of global early childhood education led by Liz Willen of The Hechinger Report at the enlightening HolonIQ Back to School conference. Isabelle Hau from the Stanford University Graduate School of Education shared a compelling narrative that highlighted the stark underinvestment in the crucial early years of child development (birth to five years) in the U.S. She emphasized the untapped potential this period holds for yielding significant societal ROI, an insight grounded in robust research. Joe Wolf, CEO of Imagine Worldwide, illuminated us with his groundbreaking initiatives that are transforming the educational landscape for young children in impoverished regions of Africa. With a pioneering technology solution, he is paving the way for substantial improvements in learning at a remarkable rate of just $7 per year per child. This initiative not only bridges infrastructure gaps such as electricity and connectivity but also helps to address the availability and quality of teachers. A special note of appreciation to Maria Spies, Patrick Brothers and the entire team for orchestrating such a meaningful forum where thought leaders converge to foster discussions and ideation on significant issues and opportunities. Looking forward to continuing the enriching dialogues in the future. #education #edtech #impact Cc: Age of Learning
We did not solve all the problems of early childhood education around the world today at HolonIQ, but we had a great discussion of potential solutions: with Joe Wolf, Isabelle Hau. Follow The Hechinger Report and sign up for more: https://lnkd.in/eexbmjUx

The City of Reykjavik is in the process of outfitting all 44 of its schools with dedicated solutions teams created specifically for education interventions and student support services. The Better City for Children project is the ongoing work of the city’s digital innovation team, which is supported by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins. New Working Paper 📣 As part of the Rejuvenate project, Tessa Lewin, Mariah Cannon, Vicky Johnson, Raisa Philip and Priya Raghavan have been looking at projects that describe themselves as ‘girl-led’. When girls participate more in programming and evaluation, there tends to be four positive outcomes: - Girl participation in decisions around data analysis and collection tends to correlate with wider considerations in evaluations and more complex metrics. - Girl participation helps avoid and ensure that unintended consequences of projects are captured and accounted for. - Higher participation correlates with more contextually aware, tailored programming. - Projects with higher levels of girl participation displayed greater attentiveness to intersectional considerations. Read the new Working Paper to find out more👉https://lnkd.in/eghg_Fzx The Rejuvenate project is co-hosted by IDS and the UHI Inverness.
