18 – years with e-con Systems   18 years signify many things in one’s life. It marks your transition to adulthood, it denotes your independence and it signifies your shift to leap into the world of possibilities. Hence, reaching the milestone of 18 years with e-con signifies more than just a work anniversary for me. It marks my transition from a novice engineer to a leader in the professional realm, embodying growth, taking up challenging roles, and embracing endless possibilities. e-con was still in its budding stages when I joined. I joined as the 12th employee of the company which over the years has grown into a family with more than 650 members. From a humble start-up, with my own eyes I saw e-con transitioning into a globally renowned strong player in the field of embedded vision. And nothing gives me greater joy than knowing that I too had played a role in it. Based on my personal experience, I can highlight a few factors that demonstrate how e-con effectively leverages its resources, contributing to the current success and growth it enjoys. It never allows you to settle down. Once you are settled down you stop growing. e-con constantly engages you with one opportunity after the other, and each of this opportunity comes with its challenges and learnings. Once you undergo that ordeal, a different person emerges, each time, more refined and with a lot more to give back. At the same time, it is also important to identify the right talent for these opportunities. And it does each time, even surprising the ones who were chosen. I’d say I am the testament to these statements. For 15 years I worked in different projects related to software and firmware. First, I was asked to lead several projects then I was entrusted with responsibilities of leading several teams and I was very comfortable in that space. Then one fine day I was tasked with establishing a new Manufacturing Unit and taking on the leadership role for it. I had my apprehensions and reservations, but the faith the company instilled upon me provided reassurance. I was granted the opportunity to prepare, learn, and the freedom to choose the necessary resources to accomplish the task. Three years have passed since then, and it has been a milestone for both e-con and for my professional career. This nature of e-con where we don’t feel the lethargy of working on the same role for ever and ever and pushing us towards new role and responsibilities and thereby finetuning our potential, gives me a reason and sense of purpose to stay here. Reflecting on these 18 years I have nothing but gratitude for all the opportunity it has bestowed up on me. Reflecting on the past two years, I'm reminded of the profound impact honesty and vulnerability can have in our professional journeys. Two years ago, I made a decision that defied conventional wisdom—during a conversation around growth goals I told our CEO that I didn't aspire to grow in my role at that moment. It was a moment of authenticity, where I acknowledged my limitations: I was in the midst of undergoing IVF treatments while striving for my second child, and I simply couldn't commit to more than my current responsibilities. I'm grateful to work under a compassionate leader who valued my truth. Fast forward to today, our second son is here, we are sleeping again, and the challenges of IVF are behind me. Remarkably, that same leader has now entrusted me with the promotion of my dreams—the role of Chief Customer Officer at Raisely. The timing couldn't be better. The journey to this point has been one of unwavering support and readiness for the next big leap. My passion for serving the customer has always been evident to those who've worked alongside me, and at Raisely, that dedication is not only embraced but celebrated. It's incredibly fulfilling to champion the customer-first ethos of our B-Corp organization. When reflecting on my journey, I believe that my commitment to honesty and vulnerability played a pivotal role in my trajectory. Rather than holding me back, they've propelled me forward, shaping my career in ways I couldn't have imagined. Where were you 15 years ago? DGCooley & Co., in its first iteration, began 15 years ago today - Happy Anniversary to Us! The traditional 15th anniversary gift is crystal - symbolizing lightness, clarity, and durability. And we certainly like to think we’ve achieved all three. 🪂 Lightness - When you’re doing worthwhile work with great people, it doesn’t feel like a heavy lift. 🧐 Clarity - 15 years of so many different kinds of projects in a dozen plus industries means we can often spot issues (and solutions!) from a mile away. 💪 Durability - We’re still here, serving repeat clients, through recession and tech downturns. And - oh yeah - COVID-19. One trait that keeps us around is our pragmatic approach. Our founder has an undergraduate degree in engineering and a master’s in Human Factors from a business school. The blend of these perspectives helps ensure we don’t sacrifice a business goal for a user need (or vice-versa) or propose a solution that isn’t technically feasible. Another thing that makes us different is that we are industry-agnostic. We’ve been privileged to work in automotive, financial services, healthcare, medical devices, several flavors of nonprofits, law, cannabis, associations, agriculture, public utilities, home appliances, reinsurance, telecommunications, and more. There’s nothing we love more than applying learnings from one industry to a totally different one. Even better, we got to work with so many very smart and very fun people!
