March 2024 signifies the end of the first year of Oaklee’s 3 year Corporate Strategy 2023-2025. To guide our work, we have restated our Purpose — why we exist — and refreshed our Values to confirm what our partners and residents can expect of us and what we hold ourselves accountable to, as we deliver on our most ambitious plan yet. We continue to make significant progress across all areas of the business including notable changes to development, finance and operations processes. These past two years have been amazing - full of personal and professional growth, amazing partners and new relationships, and working with an all-star team! I can't wait to see what the next two years bring for Creating Community Consulting! #organizationalculture #communitydriven #collaboration #communitygrowth
Part of what makes community-driven work meaningful is the people who we have the privilege to work with. On Friday, June 28th, we celebrated a big milestone – 2 years of collaboration, grassroots community projects, and a growing network of partners across North Dakota and Minnesota. Our friends over at the Frazee-Vergas Forum captured the spirit of the afternoon and our awe in this moment of growth: https://lnkd.in/e9VjvVuV We couldn’t have done this without an amazing team, one that keeps expanding! This month, we welcome four new members to the Creating Community Consulting Family, in a new space in downtown Frazee: Jamie Crabtree, Heather Ware Nelson, Shelly Blauert, and Amy Kilde. They join Karen Dowing and Sophia Strand, alongside Karen Pifher in the amazing community work happening throughout Becker County! Please stop by the office to say hello if you find yourself in the area (especially on a Friday from 2:30-5:30pm) and stay tuned as we share more about our team’s focus areas of work with us this summer and beyond! #CommunityDriven #Grassroots #Collaboration #TeamExpansion #CommunityProjects #Networking #LocalLeadership #CommunityGrowth #NorthDakota #Minnesota #Frazee #BeckerCounty #CommunityConsulting #NewBeginnings #Celebration #CommunityImpact #JoinUs #WelcomeNewMembers #CreatingCommunity #CommunityPartners

This! Portland should focus on this instead of listening to out of state land owners who refuse to adapt to the new normal. Instead of listening to the whiny commercial building owners complain about teleworking we should focus on building communities that support local business and affordable housing 24/7! Thousands of square feet available, plenty of jobs downtown, affordable housing via adaptive reuse seems like a win win if we replaced the housing that was one prominent in an area of need. It just seems like the easiest solution is often ignored when the elite have to maybe make an effort.

After a rewarding journey, I finished with Hobsons Bay City Council this week. It's been a privilege to work in such a supportive organisation and to serve the Hobsons Bay community. I stepped into the role without any significant leadership experience, just as Council adopted their first Urban Forest Strategy. I knew that leading both the operational and strategic functions would be challenging but I never anticipated it would be so rewarding. I'm thrilled to share some of the team’s achievements and milestones over the past 3-years 🎉🎯✅ Improvement of Policy and Procedures 📑 Development of a new Tree Policy, 2021, which has proven to be instrumental in providing a transparent framework for responding to all tree related enquiries in a consistent and fair manner. (https://lnkd.in/gU4eSG-F) Creation of a Canopy Delivery Plan, 2022, setting clear direction for the implementation of the actions associated with the Strategy (https://lnkd.in/g424_ETx) Development of Council’s first proactive Open Space Tree Inspection Framework, including the programmed inspections of over 45,000 open space tree assets. Implementation of Tree Amenity Fees. Not only providing a revenue stream, but acting as a significant deterrent to the removal of healthy established trees. Surprisingly, there is often another design that incorporates the tree when the applicant understands the amenity fee! 💰🍃 (https://lnkd.in/gqtTx8hM). Planting of over 25,000 advanced trees 🌲🌳 Planting of 45,000 tube stock trees through the More Trees for a Cooler Greener West program. (https://lnkd.in/g9shyZPs) None of this would have been possible without the backing and encouragement from our Councillors and Executive and from the support from our colleagues throughout the organisation. I'm grateful for the relationships we've created 🤝 Lastly, my fav aspect has been witnessing the team's exponential growth. Five previously unqualified team members became fully qualified arborists, a further two are currently working towards the qualification. One team member progressed to achieve their Graduate Certificate and one is working towards their Diploma. It's been awesome to see their hard work paying off and the impact it has made to our service delivery 📈 #NewBeginningsInNewSocks #Gratitude #Teamwork #NextChapter
