Ready to take the next step in your career? Not quite sure how to have -that- conversation with your boss? Remember these 7 things to help your resignation discussion go as smoothly as possible. 1. Timing matters: Request a private meeting with your supervisor at a time convenient for the both of you. Be sure to allow enough time for a genuine discussion to be had. 2. Stay professional: Approach the discussion with a positive and professional attitude. Express your gratitude for the opportunities and experiences you’ve had. 3. Be transparent: Share your reasons for resigning honestly and respectfully. Focus on your career goals and personal growth rather than any negative aspects. 4. Listen and engage: Let your supervisor respond and ask questions. Engage in a productive dialogue to address any concerns or questions they might have. 5. Offer to assist in transition: If possible, express your willingness to help with a smooth transition. Discuss your notice period and how you can ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities. 6. Stand by your decision: If you are committed to resigning, it’s best not to leave the door open for counter-offer discussions. In our experience, that makes the whole process quite messy. Be (respectfully) firm in your decision to leave the business. 7. Future connections: Discuss how you can maintain professional relationships with colleagues and supervisors even after your departure. Networking is a powerful tool in your career journey. Leaving a job is a significant step, and handling the resignation discussion thoughtfully can leave a positive and lasting impression. Leaving a company or changing career paths can be really hard. I've had a lot of experience over the years and I have definitely gotten it wrong a time or two. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to leaving a role. If you're in this situation, here are a few things I've learned over the years that could potentially help: ✅ 1. Develop a Plan -- Hopefully you have a great relationship with your manager and HR - will they be supportive, or will they react negatively? This should influence the way you approach them. ✉️ 2. Prepare your Letter of Resignation -- Write that resignation letter and have it (multiple copies) ready when you go to talk to HR and your manager. If you've never written one before, Google it 😂 but have it ready. 🔎 3. Ask for help -- Of course, this depends on the circumstances, but some managers may help you find your next career path. Lean on the positive relationships built in your time with that company and ask folks to make introductions for you. You may be surprised who's willing to help. The way you leave your job or company can leave lasting impressions. It should be about doing what you can to communicate effectively and leave feeling as prepared as possible. Switching career paths is a significant step, too, so do so with intention. Tailor your approach, lean on your connections, and ask for help. You've got this. What advice would YOU give to folks in this situation? Have any fun resignation stories like mine to share!? 😏 Drop them in the comments or shoot me a message. I'd love to hear them!

People change jobs all the time, but we know that leaving your current position can have mixed emotions and can often be overwhelming. Whether you’re a senior manager looking for a new challenge or a more junior staff member looking to develop and grow, it’s part of working life to reassess where you’re at, and the opportunities available, and move on when it’s time. Preparation is key, so here are our tips to help you through the process. ➡ Protect yourself: Read your contract to understand your legal obligations, including notice period and non-compete clauses. ➡ Approach with conviction: Be sure, and be emotionally prepared. ➡ Make it formal: Ensure your resignation is in writing. ➡ The counter offer: You may receive a counter offer so have your response ready and take time to think it over. ➡ Don’t be negative: After announcing your resignation, focus on the positive way the company has benefited you, even though it’s time to move on. It’s important to leave on good terms with a good lasting impression. ➡ Don’t brag: You may have just landed your dream job – but be humble. It’s the polite, and right, thing to do. ➡ Be helpful: Offer to help during the transition to ensure you are remembered favourably. ➡ Keep in touch: Don’t burn bridges! It’s a small world and chances are you may cross paths again. The way in which you resign from a job can have a lasting impact on your career so it’s crucial to remain professional, including after you have left and regardless of your thoughts about your previous employer or co-workers. I connect the finest in Local and International Hospitality, Property and Finance,100's of placements
many of us find a time when we wish to move on for numerous reasons, career advancement, home move, family and many more 🌟 Navigating the delicate process of resigning can be daunting. Here's my take on how to give your notice gracefully: First impressions last, even the final ones. When you decide it's time to move on, how you resign can leave a lasting impact on your professional reputation. Here are a few pointers to ensure you exit with grace and professionalism: 1️⃣ Timing is key. Choose a moment when your manager is least likely to be swamped. This shows respect for their time and workload. 2️⃣ Prepare a concise resignation letter ahead of your conversation. This should outline your intention to leave, your proposed end date, and a brief thank you for the opportunity. 3️⃣ Face-to-face first. It's courteous to inform your manager in person before notifying the wider team. If remote work is a factor, a video call is the next best thing. 4️⃣ Be ready to discuss your reasons, but keep it positive. Focus on the future and what you're moving towards, rather than any negatives of your current role. 5️⃣ Offer to assist with the transition. Whether it's helping to find or train your replacement, this gesture can go a long way in maintaining a positive relationship. 6️⃣ Stay professional throughout your notice period. Continue to deliver your best work and avoid the "short-timer" attitude. 7️⃣ Keep networking. Connect with colleagues on LinkedIn and express your interest in staying in touch. You never know when your paths might cross again. 8️⃣ Reflect on your experiences. Take the time to consider what you've learned and how you've grown. This can be invaluable for your next role. 9️⃣ Exit interviews are an opportunity. If offered, provide constructive feedback that can help improve the organization. 🔟 Celebrate the new chapter. Embrace the change and look forward to the new opportunities ahead. Remember, the professional world is smaller than you think. A respectful resignation can ensure you leave doors open for the future. #CareerAdvice #ResignationTips #ProfessionalGrowth 🚀
