I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to Northern Powergrid for hosting the most fabulous #WorkExperience day for Zak Martin this week. Special thanks go to Mikolaj Kukawski for reaching out and making it happen, Zak had the best day and thoroughly enjoyed sharing his amazing knowledge again. Watching the linesmen from Circet IRE & UK in action, was incredible, what a team. They also spent time chatting to Zak, after they’d completed their project. We certainly packed lots into the day and met some great people, thanks to each and every one of you for your kindness and time. It’s companies and individuals like this who make such a difference to #Autistic people like Zak. People who go the extra mile to include and provide #Support based around their #SpecialInterests, it certainly boosted his #MentalHealth. I think it’s fair to say that Zak, as usual impressed everyone he met with his outstanding knowledge. We now need to find a company who see his #value, embrace his talent and find him a #WorkPlacement, to utilise his unique skills, so that we can step into the next part of his journey. If you think you can help, please reach out to me, he’s an absolute genius, a real asset and you won’t regret it. If you don’t believe me, ask anyone who’s ever met him. ‘Slow Down’ & think! As An Garda Síochána launch their ‘Slow Down’ day as a result of recent road tragedies, it reminds us that ‘slowing down’ can be a useful action to take in many aspects of our lives. Oftentimes it takes sickness or an injury to force us to slow down. In which case we then evaluate and analyse what we could have done to prevent the situation from happening. 🕒 Have you taken time to ‘slow down’ at work in order to evaluate and analyse issues that need resolving or situations that need attention? 🕒 Have you taken the time to evaluate how your company is performing? 🕒 Have you noted areas or activities that your team is struggling with? Prevention is always better than cure! At first sight it looks like a team building or friends gathering, but for us, it's just another day in the field, a work session that started at 7am and finished at 11pm under 35 °C. Working hand in hand, client and agency to make things happen is what we do best. Don't just stand behind your desk, being in the field allows us to understand, feel, and be directly in touch with our customers. That's how we put into practice the values that drive us. Changing norms of work and life? But is that a good thing for the productivity of our society? https://lnkd.in/gY3zdC-r I have been watching these amusing videos but it got me thinking about the pros and cons of a society that starts to draw very strict boundaries between work and life. While so many of us have found it healthy to draw these lines and protect our wellness, health and family needs, I started to remember that the best jobs I had provided me with the motivation to do more when the situation demanded and approach my work as a passion and not a just a duty. I worked weekends when I knew the situation demanded it and my best bosses prioritized my life and health. We just had fun working hard and GSD. There is a happy mutual give and take between employers and employees which makes it an inclusive environment with high belonging and ownership. The burden is certainly on the employer to create the culture, but we all have a societal responsibility to enhance the productivity to keep our nation on an innovative path of growth for centuries to come.

In long-term care -- and in every other sector -- every voice matters, and every person matters. Alena Mellgren, LPN from Guardian Angel Homes Hermiston, was really happy about how the LiveWell learning collaborative created opportunities for staff to dialogue, learn, and do continuous improvement.
