Today is World Heart Day! It's important to remember that the heart is a muscle too. It's recommended that people with muscular dystrophy have their heart checked: - At time of diagnosis - At least every year in patients without cardiac symptoms - If symptoms or abnormal imaging results present - Before surgery - Before initiating an exercise program Data from Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, specific to Duchenne and Becker. This multicentre study, led by Francesca Moro and Manuel Maria ianieri, provides a new standardized methodology to evaluate the parametria at ultrasound examination in patients undergoing surgery because of suspected deep endometriosis. Ultrasound examination provided good specificity for all the parameters, but sensitivity was low for the anterior and lateral parametria. Clinical examination provided good specificity for the anterior and posterior parametria, but sensitivity was low for the anterior and lateral parametria. The results of this study open avenues of research to compare MRI for assessment of the parametria in this setting, and determining the diagnostic benefits of the fusion technique, particularly for assessing endometriosis to the pelvic nerves. The paper is published open access, and is available to read in full from our in-press articles section now https://lnkd.in/eRvBnUAN #FemaleReproductiveHealthAndFertility #Endometriosis #Cervix #Ultrasonography
