Have you seen the ESIL article on Science|Business? 👀 ESIL, an EU-funded project, led by Business Angels Europe, META Group, and EuroQuity - Bpifrance, aims to increase the number of angel investors in Eastern Europe. We offer two-day training sessions in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechia, Croatia, and Hungary to train around 20 new angel investors per country. This initiative is crucial, as only €395.9 million of the $7.3 billion in European angel investments in 2023 went to Eastern Europe. With more angel investors, start-ups in these regions can grow and innovate better. 🙌🏼 Andris Kulbergs, Chairman of the Innovation Ecosystem Development Subcommittee of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Saeima, also attended the signing of the cooperation agreement between UniLab and Accelerace. He believes that future ideas are born in universities. 💬 "This cooperation is an important milestone. We have a shortage of value-added products, productivity and workforce, so we need to address this as soon as possible. The question raised by my good friend Constantinos Loizou during our meeting yesterday at our Embassy was "how many items in the office (besides the artworks of Cypriot artists) are of Cypriot invention, creation, design and production?" I must admit, I was really troubled by this specific question. Constantinos, CEO and founder at Embio Diagnostics Ltd donated to the Embassy, and I thank him warmly for that, the latest airbeld device, entirely designed and manufactured in Cyprus. The Airbeld system/ device is an integrated, cost-effective monitoring system designed to assess Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and promptly detect and report hazardous incidents that directly impact health and well-being. Embio will be among a group of Cypriot companies (start ups, new technologies and more), which our Embassy in Athens and the Cyprus Trade Center of Athens will seek to promote in Greece, always with the guidance, coordination and cooperation of the competent Ministries and authorities in Cyprus. The technology and innovation ecosystem in Cyprus is constantly developing. The Embassies and Commercial/ Trade Centers of the Republic abroad ought to assist these companies and strengthen their new market expansion, size and competitiveness. More particularly, as for the start-up companies within the technology ecosystem in Cyprus, we ought to provide all necessary support so to assist their natural transition from innovation to commercialization.
