GXO Logistics, Inc. is going all in on humanoids 🤖
GXO is moving beyond traditional automation, doubling down on humanoid robots to revolutionize its warehouse operations.
Through its operational incubator program, GXO has turned its warehouses into real-world labs, collaborating with top robotics developers to test cutting-edge technology.
After piloting robots like Agility Robotics’ Digit and Apptronik’s Apollo, GXO has now added Reflex Robotics to its lineup.
Here are some of the key tasks GXO is exploring:
• Moving totes between systems
• Picking products for faster fulfillment
• Lifting heavy boxes, improving safety
• Automating repetitive tasks, so humans can focus on higher-value work
Adrian Stoch, GXO's Chief Automation Officer, highlighted their strategy: “We have made the strategic decision to prioritize the humanoid category of our R&D agenda, based on the potential for broad applications combined with the benefit of reducing repetitive heavy lifting tasks for our warehouse associates.”
While these trials are still in the early stages, the direction is clear — with labor shortages rising, humanoids will play a pivotal role in the future of warehousing.

Our exciting pilot project with Rhenus Logistics: Successes & Next Steps
The results from our project have exceeded expectations, meaning that we took the right approach to our robot development process.
As can be seen in a previous post, Starnus and Rhenus Logistics set the grounds for an exciting strategic partnership aiming to revolutionize the intralogistics industry.
Here’s a snapshot of our pilot’s achievements:
✅ Our GPL robot, Alpha 1, has been successfully deployed at the Rhenus warehouse, located in Tilburg! We set the foundations for further robotics deployment at a scale, addressing the worldwide labour shortage, and increased operational efficiency, by streamlining processes and providing real-time insights.
But we’re not stopping there! What’s next?
