Here is another great volunteer opportunity for our Members to have a positive impact. I'm often asked, "If we have launched our strategy, why do we still need the Strategy Committee?" and "What impact can I really have?". Whilst it is true that we're well into the implementation phase of our strategy, for me it is important that StratCom ensures that our delivery follows the original intent, as well as having the flexibility to review progress / make positive adjustments along the way. A lot if work has been done, but it doesn't mean we've 'finished' it... StratCom is one of our three Governance Boards/Committees and sits alongside Finance Board and Audit & Risk Committee (I Chair the latter). Key decisions will go via these three Governance Boards before going to Trustee Board; such as the HQ Building, setting of membership fees, updates to the 3-5 year budgets, etc - to name but a few. So, my answer to the above questions is that there are many instances where Members can really make a difference and influence key decisions. Interested? Have a look at the link and feel free to reach out to me if you have any queries.
📣 Applications to become an Ordinary Member of IMechE's Strategy Committee are still open! You have until 23:59HRS (BST) on 7 April 2024 to send through your applications. Further details and information about how to apply may be found on our website here: https://bit.ly/3VkTQ0N

To foster a workplace culture of inclusion and prioritise staff mental wellbeing, the key is to create opportunities for employees to communicate and connect authentically. An easy way for companies to achieve this is by installing a water dispenser at the workplace. Most employees have their most genuine connections with their colleagues in the office over a cuppa ☕, and such water cooler moments, while may seem trivial, plays a very important role in breaking down hierarchical barriers and fostering genuine connections. Watch the video by leading mental health advocate Gethin Nadin, who highlights how companies can refresh the concept of water cooler moments and establish spaces to nurture meaningful interactions. #WaterCooler #WaterDispensers

High-Performance Coach 🚀 | I coach today's young professionals to stop the busy and be intentional with their time through scientifically-backed high-performance habits | Emergency Physician 🚑
⛑️ How I Learned the Power of Accepting Help In my initial days as a physician, I was consumed by the idea of self-reliance. The thought of managing every challenge on my own became a badge of honor. Yet, over time, I realized that this lone-wolf approach was not only draining but also limiting. Embracing help and collaboration was the key to unlocking broader horizons and deeper insights. - Recognize Your Limits: It's okay to admit you can't do everything on your own. - Trust in Others: Every individual brings unique expertise and perspective. Let them share it with you. - Open Communication: Clearly convey your needs and be receptive to others' input. - Appreciate and Acknowledge: Show gratitude towards those who offer their support and assistance. 📌 PS... Remember, seeking help is not a sign of weakness. It's a testament to your strength and wisdom in recognizing the power of collaboration. 🙌🏻 "Be the bridge that connects wisdom, not the island isolated from growth." In the demanding field of medicine, uniting with others amplifies our potential and broadens our impact. Accepting help is a step towards creating a harmonious environment where collective efforts lead to unparalleled successes.
