iPhone 15's One Two Punch: Ahead of the iPhone 15 launch, the iPhone 11 install base expanded by roughly 40% over last year’s comparable n-4 group, offering a significant upgrade opportunity for the new release. Thus, when early iPhone 15 trends showed a ~30% y/y increase in base iPhone 15 vs base iPhone 14 sales and when our app data analysis indicated substantial iPhone 11 user upgrades, we believed the iPhone 15 cycle was well positioned to grow due to non-Pro sales. However, as the preordered iPhone 15 Pro series began to ship in late October, we have tracked above-average Pro series trends. With this momentum continuing into early November, we now believe the iPhone 15 series is benefiting from the upgrading of two large bases, the four-year-old "holdout" iPhone 11 users and the "early 5G" and "record promotion" three-year-old iPhone 12 base. Opportunity and Preparedness Meet for Motorola: Motorola seized the opportunity when LG withdrew from the US smartphone market in 2021, successfully increasing its prepaid market share with the G Stylus and Moto G series across carriers. Now, as Samsung prioritizes its high-end market share and reduces its prepaid offerings to a single A14/A15 model, it opens the path for Motorola to capture even more market share. Motorola stands out in the prepaid space with a stronger brand than its competitors, except for Apple and Samsung, and boasts the most innovative lineup, featuring large batteries, stylus devices, and now flip phones. Additionally, Motorola's revival in the postpaid market with the Razr series will likely improve its brand further. With the end of pandemic-related supply issues, Motorola is well-positioned for continued growth.

Apple's iPhone 15 event is set for September 12th https://ift.tt/NZUtCqp Fed up of telling your friends and family not to buy an iPhone 14 right now? Me too, so here's some good news on that front: Apple has set a date for its annual September event, during which we'll surely learn all about the iPhone 15 lineup as well as new versions of other devices. You can set a calendar alert for September 12th at 1PM ET to remind yourself to come on back to Engadget to watch the livestream. Almost as soon as last year's event ended, rumors started flying around about what Apple had in store for the iPhone 15 lineup. All models (save for perhaps a new SE) could ditch the notch and start using the Dynamic Island cutout that debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. You may need to opt for an iPhone 15 Pro if you want WiFi 6E connectivity rather than WiFi 6, however. Reports suggest the 15 Pro and Pro Max will have thinner bezels and a titanium frame as well, but we may have to wait until next year to see the rumored iPhone Ultra. Apple Most intriguingly of all, Apple may finally start to phase out the Lightning port with the iPhone 15 lineup and make the long-awaited switch to USB-C. The company doesn't have much of a choice there, since all tablets and smartphones sold in the European Union will need to use that charging port starting next year. It'll be more straightforward for Apple to use the same connector for all new devices, rather than trying to cling onto the Lightning port in other markets. In any case, we won't have to wait much longer to find out all about this year's new iPhones. It's likely that we'll learn about what's next for Apple Watch too. And there's always a chance that Apple has a "one more thing" surprise up its sleeve too. As ever, we'll have full coverage of this year's fall iPhone event as it happens. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://ift.tt/NZUtCqp via Engadget is a web magazine with obsessive daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics https://ift.tt/1UHx4fR August 29, 2023 at 04:10PM

Apple's recent unveiling of the iPhone 15 Pro at its September keynote event has generated significant buzz in the tech world. One notable feature of the iPhone 15 Pro is the introduction of an action button, marking the first change to the ring silencer since the original iPhone's toggle switch in 2007. This addition provides users with a new way to interact with their devices. Another major change is the adoption of USB-C charging for the iPhone 15 Pro, replacing Apple's proprietary lightning charging cable. This move aligns with the industry trend towards universal charging standards and aims to simplify the charging process across different devices and brands. These updates have implications for IT outsourcing, particularly for companies like TESI ITO, a reliable talent-sourcing partner. With the introduction of the iPhone 15 Pro and its innovative features, such as the action button and USB-C charging, the demand for skilled IT professionals, including talented Filipinos, is expected to increase. TESI ITO, with its access to a pool of highly skilled Filipino professionals, is well-positioned to meet this growing demand and provide excellent talent-sourcing services. https://lnkd.in/ewa99b-P Extracts Apple’s fall product launch next month is all but certain to include a new iPhone, and rumors say it could include faster charging. According to 9to5Mac, a tech blog with a solid track record on Apple rumors, the next iPhone will switch from Apple’s Lightning charging port to the more widespread USB-C and at least some models will support faster charging speeds. The iPhone 15 could be compatible with a 35-watt charger, allowing the device to charge faster. Apple recommends iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users avoid charging with any wired chargers over 27 watts, and iPhone 14 users limit their chargers to 20 watts. A 20-watt charger can fully power an iPhone 14 in one hour. The charging speed of the 35-watt charger is unclear when used with the iPhone 15 series. It is important not to pair iPhones with chargers exceeding the recommended wattage, as the excess power could overheat the phone and damage the battery. Even at 35 watts, the iPhone 15 will still be significantly slower to charge than competitor flagship models like Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Series – phones capable of handing “superfast charging” with special 45-watt chargers. Though Apple has fallen behind in the charging game, its products still boast impressive battery life. In March, 9to5Mac performed a battery test on the S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max and found the latter won out. While the S23 Ultra has a larger battery capacity, it lasted 27 hours and 6 minutes, while its Apple counterpart held on for another 38 minutes before dying.
