As an artist, a lawyer and an all-round web3 fiend, it's clear to me that one of the leading use cases for web3 is in art and culture, especially in it's preservation and archiving. It helps to think of #blockchain as a #provenance machine, that can be used to bring culture #onchain. What does this mean? Culture is not one thing. It is an amalgam of art, artefacts, oral histories, medicinal remedies, agricultural techniques, story and textile weaving techniques, languages, clothing, tattoos, jewelry, hairstyles, recipes, along with a plethora of other kind elements beyond the word limit of this post. Now imagine this not-one-thing-culture in all its multitudes recorded online, digitized, safe from the vagaries of failing memories, natural disasters, and the general wear and tear of history that P.B. Shelly highlighted in #Ozymandias. The communities unlock novel revenue streams and become self sustainable, while ensuring accurate representation of their culture in a local and global context. May be a #geographicalindications explosion? A culture can live on beyond its physical form. Difficult to imagine what that looks like, but we need to start imagining the future we want. In my opinion, #northeastindia, which is arguable the most culturally diverse geography on earth, would be particularly well served to leverage this technology. Last week was extraordinary for the blockchain scene in Bengaluru, India🔥 The week's highlights were the India Blockchain Week (IBW), Web3 Carnival, EthGlobal, and Blocktalk events. As a keen observer, I witnessed the thriving developer ecosystems passionate about blockchain technology. They explored a wide range of applications, such as decentralized finance (DeFi), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Gamefi, Metaverse, Zk rollups and Real World Asset tokenization (RWAs). "The atmosphere was electric!" The Indian crypto community showcased its dynamism and creativity through various diverse projects, which was truly inspiring.
