President Eisgruber, Your approach, and the approach of others who have "negotiated" w/ students who have broken the University's rules, is fundamentally flawed. Students who violate the School's rules should not be allowed to negotiate w/ the University at all. Nor should they be allowed to make any demands. Period, End of Story. If students - or faculty - want to make requests of the University, they should do so through lawful means. You've now taught everyone at Princeton a fundamentally wrong lesson: If you violate our rules- especially if you do so flagrantly and with a very loud megaphone for all to see - we'll talk with you and accede to many of your demands. And then we'll even consider not punishing you for violating our rules. Stated otherwise, you've sowed future chaos at Princeton University.

Novara Media does it again. 👊🏽 Smashing it out of the park with this analysis of what is REALLY going on. Ash Sarkar is BANG ON THE MONEY here. The POLITICAL MACHINATIONS of Westminster, GETTING THEIR DUCKS IN A ROW. We're all watching it like a slow car crash, We can see what's happening, They are gearing up to SEVERELY RESTRICT or BAN Palestine protests. But MOST LEGACY MEDIA is either COMPLCIT in manufacturing this ISLAMOPHOBIC NARRATIVE and therefore DEEPLY UNINTERESTED in holding government to account, Or just not DOING THEIR JOB WELL in protecting OUR FREEDOMS. A free media is a cornerstone of a free democratic society. You would think they would be more interested in doing their role, HOLDING THE POWERFUL TO ACCOUNT, and protecting the people's FREEDOM TO PROTEST, Another cornerstone of a free, democratic society. They should be QUESTIONING the MOTIVES of this report. It's not even like it's the first dodgy, POLITICALLY MOTIVATED, shameless report from the SHAMELESS Tories since they got their massive majority. And Rishi Sunak's all FAUX CONCERN, acting like he needs to give this report, (that he's pretending he didn't just plan to coincidentally receive now, HOW TIMELY), some serious consideration, before he agrees to BREAK THE LAW, and CURTAIL OUR FREEDOMS! And it's not like Starmer or Labour are properly calling out this ISRAEL SUPPORTING REPORT AUTHOR'S BIAS in trying to attack the PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN. You could not make this up! 1. First the Speaker LYING about his MOTIVES, for breaking the rule about amendments, Saying he was worried about threats to MPs, (because they don't get threats all the time?) When in reality, LABOUR THREATENING his job. They BLACKMAILED him. 2. The bigotted, right wing media pounced on this and MANUFACTURED A NARRATIVE of how it was in fact extremists who had motivated the speaker's decision. They PAINTED A TARGET ON MUSLIM'S BACKS. 3. Then Sunak's seemingly pointless lectern speech, to use his position to further PROMOTE this FALSE NARRATIVE. 4. Now this perfectly timed 🐃💩 report, 5. And promoted in Rupert Murdoch's toilet paper for newspaper, The Sun, no less, saying the government should break the law and curtail our FREEDOM TO PROTEST, particularly pro-Palestine protests and environmental protests, trying to GARNER PUBLIC SUPPORT to chip away at the PUBLIC'S FREEDOMS, how IRONIC, and of course they went to a paper read by the most bigotted in society. And the report written by a former chair of Labour Friends of Israel. Coz that's not suspect at all.🤯🤦🏽♀️🤬 This is a STRATEGISED CAMPAIGN, to MANUFACTURE CONSENT to CURTAIL one of THE PEOPLE'S most important FREEDOMS, the RIGHT TO PROTEST. We are taking advice from a man who never won one war nor moved to get us out of one folly. But has profited for decades off his government service! And you support and cry for America to send our money to Ukraine to maintain their sovereignty while we are losing our sovereignty to the constitutionally illegal invasion done purposely by our complicit policy makers who you support to make the White Westerners a minority in the Republic that our Fathers Westerners all built. You have never been right about anything, and it's for sure you see my nation not as a priority. And now you are telling us, after decades of multiculturalism, that it is past time that HAMAS supporters in our nation follow the rules! Here is a rule for you!! HAMAS HAS BEEN ON OUR USG FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATION WATCH LIST SINCE 1997!! The "protestors" are supporting terrorism and the downfall of America!! And you want the rules followed! These Western-privileged children use their Western Privileges to support Islamic Totalitarianism. They are ignorant or purposefully anti-Americans, enemies of our Constitutional Republic—America The American Constitutional Republic will be lost if the American citizen does not reclaim his dominant position in deciding the future of our American Constitutional Republic. In doing so, the American Citizen must bring forth the underlying principles and beliefs that are the foundation of our Western Civilization and demand that Western principles, values, and beliefs are again taught throughout our educational system, and these principles dominate all American policymaking. The flying of the Ukrainian flag or any other nation's flag in the People's House be forbidden in favor of America and our American Flag Below are some of the principles created by our ancestors that made for our American Constitutional Republic, a Republic based on Western Principles and beliefs, the most successful political creation in humankind's history—empirically proven as Superior in developing liberty and prosperity. HANDS DOWN! It is the Western people who developed the principle of representation. Government of the people, by the people, for the people; the Western world developed the principles and practices of political liberty, freedom of thought and conscience, and freedom of speech and expression. It evolved to what we call "civil rights" that do not exist today in much of the world--go see for yourself! T In turn, adherence to these Western principles led to the world's most successful means of commerce- a system of free, for the most part, market capitalism that has lifted more than a billion people out of poverty. People have benefited from the Western commercial system, improve lives worldwide. Nobody follows your rules-Putin nor HAMAS Lt Col (ret) Tom Raquer USA/USAF MUSTANG ps://https://lnkd.in/gJU6uin5
It is high time that these elite universities required the protesters to follow regulations and policy regarding their protests. Some of the schools are starting to do that. Above all the protesters must stop using anti-Semitic rhetoric and threatening Jewish students which is reprehensible behavior. https://lnkd.in/dWwtWxBU

The recent actions taken by the NYPD to clear the Columbia Campus of junior radicals have sparked a contentious debate about the balance between freedom of expression and public safety. While some may view these actions as heavy-handed, it's crucial to recognize the complexities involved in maintaining order within an educational institution. First and foremost, universities serve as spaces for open discourse and intellectual exploration. However, when protests escalate to the point of disrupting campus activities or posing a threat to the safety of students, faculty, and staff, intervention becomes necessary. The NYPD's response aimed to restore order and ensure that the rights of all members of the campus community were respected. Furthermore, it's important to consider the broader context in which these events unfolded. With increasing tensions surrounding social and political issues, universities often find themselves at the forefront of activism and dissent. While peaceful protest is a fundamental right, it must be conducted within the bounds of the law and with respect for the rights of others. In this case, the NYPD's intervention was a measured response to a situation that had escalated beyond the realm of peaceful demonstration. By enforcing the law and dispersing the crowd, they sought to prevent further escalation and protect the well-being of everyone involved. It's also worth noting that the actions of a few individuals should not overshadow the larger goals of the protest movement. While disagreements may arise regarding tactics and strategies, it's essential to remain focused on addressing the underlying issues and working towards meaningful change. In conclusion, while the clearing of the Columbia Campus by the NYPD may have been met with criticism from some quarters, it's important to recognize the difficult decisions faced by law enforcement officials in such situations. Balancing the rights of individuals with the need to maintain public safety is a complex challenge, but one that must be navigated with care and respect for all involved.

Founder, On Think Tanks
4wMaurice Otieno sorry to learn about the situation in Kenya. Reminds me of what happened in Peru a couple of years ago. The role of independent media and journalists (like Marco Sifuentes) was (and is) central in holding the responsible to account. Think tanks in general, unfortunately, took a more pragmatic position, preferring to focus on questions about the economic impact of the protests.
