As #PrideMonth comes to an end, here's a friendly reminder to support your LGBTQIA employees not only in June but year-round. At last year's #CatalystHonours, Amy Hanen (AVP, Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group) explained why something as simple as learning the acronym goes a long way in one's allyship journey. Want to learn more about genuine LGBTQIA allyship? Here are key takeaways from our webinar on the topic earlier this month: ⬇️ https://bit.ly/4cioAFl

EDI so important to have in every organisation, but having an understanding of it is even more important.
Do you know what ‘conscious inclusion’ is? Conscious inclusion is when you become more self-aware of any biases you may unconsciously have. #Equality, #Diversity and #Inclusion (EDI) is important to be aware of, even when it can seem overwhelming or challenging. The culture you create must seamlessly weave in #EDI where possible, so that it works for everyone. Simple acts, such as inviting everyone to join in with discussions or conversations or getting to know people who aren’t like you are stepping stones to achieving representation for all, understanding EDI and creating an open and accepting culture. This infographic and message really resonated with me. „If you are not consciously inclusive, you are unconsciously exclusive.“ In the past weeks I am diving deeper and deeper into the topics of #datafeminism and #dataequity as well as #responsibleAI. And I am wondering how I as science communicator & information designer with a data science / astronomer background can employ these principles. (Open for ideas here). How can we provide spaces to include different groups in data and/or sciece communication projects?

This Pride Month, we’re kicking off a “Summer of Joy” – a theme chosen by our Pride Inclusivity Employee Resource Group and series of events planned to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA community. Beyond Pride Month, we believe in creating safe spaces and a welcoming workplace 365 days of the year. Building a better, more inclusive future starts with how we treat one another, every day. That’s the reason behind Coast Capital’s Inclusion Code, a code of conduct proudly displayed in each of our 45 branches. It clearly conveys our commitment to inclusion and that we have no tolerance for hate or discrimination. Standing in allyship and breaking down barriers for the 2SLGTBQIA community, including transgender and gender non-conforming individuals, is more important than ever. Together we can create safer spaces for everyone to work, bank, and thrive, paving the way for a proud and inclusive future. A post by Race Equality Matters that is worth sharing. EDI has become the latest buzzword and while a lot is being done by so many organisations it is worth noting changes will only continue to happen as a result of tweaks/actions/decisions but more importantly: our behaviour towards one another. I am not an expert… #HR #EDI #equity #betterworkinglives

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice is not a game, a trend, or a flavor of the month. It’s imperative. Our rights and our lives depend on it. — Mareisha N. Reese Get daily inspiration here: http://ow.ly/ZK2y50ImibZ #DiversityAndInclusion #Equity #Justice

Much of the time, you won't hear me talk about #UnconsciousBias. Of course, I used to, but I've used the #learningasalaunchpad as I've evolved as someone who swims regularly in the waters of this #DEIB space. When asked why I use the term #ConsciousInclusion rather than Unconscious Bias, I often say that one of my reasons is because I want to #think, #act and #decide with conscious intent, especially in the #workplace when it comes to matters of #Diversity, #Equity and #Inclusion, the way I interact with others and the work I do. I refuse to simply shrug, say I was not aware or 'unconscious' of the #bias and then move along without employing intentionality of thought and action. The #sketchnote below is creative, easy to understand, accessible, educational and only adds to my motivation to continue using this evolved language. I'm interested to know your thoughts! #consciousinclusion #unconsciousbias #learningasalaunchpad #diversity #equity #inclusion #belonging #DEIB
