Rural counties, like the ones that comprise most of our 16-county service area in Southeast Missouri have some of the highest rates of food insecurity across the country. Rural communities make up 63% of all U.S counties, but 87% of counties with the highest food insecurity rates. But working together, we can all join together to end hunger. A third of parents are skipping meals so their children can eat during the school holidays. With summer fast approaching, thousands of lower-income families will face a harsh reality. As food costs continue to soar, feeding a family of three now averages £100 per week.   To combat summer hunger, we are launching a Mini Summer Challenge. Here’s how you can make a difference.   Can you donate £25, £50, £75, or £100? Or, if you’re ready for a more hands-on approach, we can send you a list of items that our foodbank urgently needs.
