After summer holidays is a great time to refresh your memory about the key points of BalticSeaH2 valley 💭 ⬇A brand new fact sheet is now published on the project website!⬇

BalticSeaH2 project includes hydrogen production, storage and use cases to demonstrate hydrogen economy in practice throughout the value chain. Over 20 use cases within the project are divided into concepts we call ‘investment cases’. There are more than 10 investment cases to be announced within the project. For example, when our partner invests in building a hydrogen production facility, other partners can utilise the facility to demonstrate their hydrogen solutions in practice. As final investment decisions are made privately by our partner companies individually, we are not able to publish all of them yet, but we did publish the first five already📢 Check them out here➡️https://lnkd.in/dhEiX5Yg

Hydrogen economy, Power-to-X, RFNBO, hydrogen backbone, derivatives, and all of the different colours of hydrogen, which is a coulourless gas…? Hydrogen is a simple molecule, but a complex topic. The green hydrogen transition presents a monumental socio-technical transition. The establishment of local, national, and regional hydrogen valleys will inevitably require substantial investments and infrastructural development: new wind and solar farms, nuclear power plants, hydrogen facilities, transmission pipelines and routes, and large-scale storage facilities. At the same time, local opposition towards green energy infrastructure has increased in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). What are we doing for just transition? Nine gas transmission system operators (TSOs) in the countries around the Baltic Sea have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which aims to coordinate and facilitate hydrogen infrastructure and also to foster hydrogen market development in the Baltic Sea region. The purpose of the cooperation in the Baltic Sea region is to coordinate collaborators’ activities for development of the hydrogen economy in the region. To support positive hydrogen development, the companies will coordinate the development of infrastructure projects for the transmission and storage of hydrogen in the region. 👉https://lnkd.in/dyaJTvgt

The first Hydrogen Economy Drivers and Barriers report about power-to-gas and CCU at a waste-to-energy plant has been published. This barrier was identified as one of the investment cases planned to be a part of the project could not be implemented. The main reason for disinvestment decision was that CCU is not recognized as an emission reduction action in waste-to-energy plants and produced district heat still remains to have high share of fossil CO2. Current regulation fails to promote the circulation and effective use of CO2 in situations where emissions cannot be avoided. ➡ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dJ5z_Gk9 Clean Hydrogen Partnership

DNV study indicates high potential of hydrogen in the Northern Baltic sea region🔎 "If we know about such a large and comparatively inexpensive potential right on our doorstep, it would be criminal not to exploit it"💡 The Baltic Sea region holds considerable potential to produce cheap, green hydrogen, which could be a significant contribution to the diversification of sources and energy independence in Europe.
