"We now have a decades-long history of policymakers representing the interests of corporations and money... but their job is to protect us, to protect our future. Policymakers need to remember that. And we all need to be politically active." It is #electionday in the UK! We need to go to the polls and rally our friends, family and neighbours to join us. And after today, we need to continue organising in our communities and fighting for the future we choose... not only in the streets, but in office, too. "The people in power are not going to do it for us; we're going to do it for ourselves." . . . . . . #vote #GiveanX #justice #equity #climateaction #activism #action #speaker #politics #leaders #leadership #people #sustainability #ecoanxiety #science

Clover nails it here. The political structures currently at play don't work. Most of the change will be done from the bottom up. We may not think we have much power as individuals but I have seen single people create a crack in the thin veneer of fine. This allows the opportunity for others to become aware, look up from their individual lives and see what actions they can take to help the change begin. Cheer on the voices like Clover who are calling out the crazy. Listen well to her messages and the voices of others trying to guide us from dysfunctional to asking more of our politicians, becoming more active politically, demanding more than just letting corporations walk in and buy out the politicians (ironically I think they might use some of the finances they gain from our tax money in subsidies). Thanks Clover, some really valid points made here!!!! #future #politics #lobbyists #corporations #subsidies #change #citizens #protectourfuture #money

We call for solidarity and unity among all democratic forces, peoples’ movements, civil society organizations, human rights defenders and progressive individuals to demand robust South-South cooperation, and a just, inclusive, transparent and equitable future for people all over the world. We stress that there are thousands of grounded, community-led initiatives towards genuine, just, equitable and ecologically wise ways of meeting human needs available across the G20 countries, which governments and others can learn from and help expand to communities. *We20: Peoples’ Declaration* https://lnkd.in/d6C8M4wc

The Healing Foundation welcomes the release of the fifteenth Annual Close the Gap Report, ‘Voyage to Voice, Treaty, Truth and Beyond’. - We second Ms June Oscar AO, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner's sentiments. "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our allies have walked this path for generations. And through our struggle, if we have learnt anything, it is that progress is not linear. There are wins and there are setbacks." - "There is movement and there is stalemate. The path to justice, equity and equality can be difficult, sometimes even painful, but it remains a worthy pursuit, because embedding social justice benefits us all. We know our communities and how to close the gap – the evidence is in the case studies, and the work that our peoples do every day. We know how to mobilise, how to build allyship and actualise the dreams of our ancestors for future generations." - The report’s subthemes: Progressing Voice, Treaty, Truth; Leadership and Governance; and Building our Economies, affirm the centrality of self-determination in the pursuit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recognition, rights, justice, and equity. - Click here to read the report in full on the Close the Gap website: https://lnkd.in/gvTZBBnk - - - - #ClosetheGap #ClosetheGapReport2024 #NationalCTGDay2024 #JourneyTogether #healingourway #stolengenerations

3wAre they going to address people that are living in poverty because they have disabilities or partial disabilities? For example I am only able to work part-time between being a mother and my physical challenges. Not a lot of tech companies want to hire somebody part-time.
