Next generation wind turbine means that it can reduce at least 50% wind power cost. The power generation cost is less than $1 cent/kWh at average wind speed of Super Turbine. Air-Water Turbine is a dedicated compressed air turbine which uses in compressed storage energy industry as peak shaving. Its cost is around 1/10 of stem turbine at asme power, but its efficency is 2.5 times. The power of each rotor is: Pn=(1/2)*(1.225-1.5)*ρ*S*Vn3 The total efficiency is: ρ=(Vin3-Vout3)/Vout3 which reached 95%

Tier 1 contractors have put together a Blueprint for how the Construction Industry could be transformed in Scotland. They key improvements suggested are; Depoliticise infrastructure. Appoint a cabinet minister responsible for infrastructure. Increase private investment in public infrastructure. Timely, holistic decision-making on key areas. Improve budget setting for infrastructure schemes. Efficient risk allocation. Investment continuity. Simplify the judicial review process. Mandate consideration of the national interest. Self-certification system to accelerate delivery of infrastructure projects. Transform the Apprenticeship Levy. A flexible immigration system. Will these solve the issues we have or do we need more done? What do you think?

CEW Construction Summit 2024 - I was pleased to be able to attend Constructing Excellence in Wales #ConstructionSummit2024, yesterday and must congratulate Cat and her team at CEW on staging such an interesting, well attended and high profile event on our industry's behalf. Minister for Economy, Vaughan Gething MS provided an interesting and thought provoking insight into Government Policy and thinking at this troubling time. Clearly the Welsh Government's 'Economic Mission' provides a focus for this. I was also pleased to meet colleagues and share experiences, in particular Gareth Davies of Knox & Wells who provided a sobering reflection on the issues we face and the ongoing challenges of successful project delivery that we all continue to grapple with. I was enlightened by the Covid impact that he has observed, not only the smaller pool of companies now operating, but also the effect on supplier Frameworks. I am a strong advocate of the value add they can bring, so if they do indeed "need re-energising" it's important that we address this concern going forward. Gareth's thoughts were balanced by others' contributions, most notably the work of Welsh Government who profiled current and future opportunities for the industry. I live and work in Mid-Wales and am passionate about realising more opportunity for this Region too; it's why I am so proud to be party to the delivery of the Mid Wales Growth Deal. There is a lot going on here and the Growth Deal's projects and programmes of work will provide a sustainable workload for construction partners for the next 10 years or so. It's a chance to be part of something that generates real benefits for the Region, helping strengthen our communities, making a true and hopefully lasting 'social value' impact. https://lnkd.in/e8-aVWCv Our Mid Wales Regional Skills Partnership is recognising the Region's challenges, all of which were touched on at the Summit; an ageing construction workforce, skills gaps, education and training facilities for professional services and constructors alike. Working with the RSP we hope to identify pathways to address some of these matters and using the leverage the Growth Deal investment brings to optimum advantage. https://lnkd.in/e2ZkCHxq. Keep watching our space! Get in contact if you'd like to discuss any of the above more. I would be happy to way find to any of my colleagues. [email protected]

The sector stands ready to respond to Labour's manifesto, comments Ramboll's UK and Ireland Managing Director Philippa Spence in her election reactions to New Civil Engineer. She expressed optimism that "the new Labour government heralds a critical turning point in the green transition. Adding “The private sector has not wavered on net zero, despite recent inconsistent political messaging across party divides. Now, our new government must show it has the same strength of appetite to spur on green investment as we do,” she continued. “For instance, we believe it is still possible for the UK to remain competitive on the international stage when it comes to key infrastructure such as offshore wind, with the private sector eager to get to work on the government’s plans to double onshore wind and quadruple offshore wind by 2030, as part of the pledge to ‘make Britain a clean energy superpower’. “Our new government’s proposed overhaul of the planning system and the creation of Great British Energy also offer beacons of hope for the industry’s path to decarbonising the built environment. “However, now is the time to deliver on these critical manifesto commitments and focus on putting ambitious plans into action, and quickly, in close collaboration with the private sector. We stand ready.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e9c3mbF4 #LetsCloseTheGap #ElectionReactions

Dear Colleagues, It’s time for a change, and with your help, I’d like to shake things up in the Engineers Australia Queensland Division Committee. 🌟 I’ve nominated for a Committee position, but I need your vote. I’ve tried to vote multiple times but the system just won’t let me (….kidding, EA, that’s a joke… 😜). If you’re an EA member, you should have received your own email from CorpVote Voting Services asking you to vote by 2nd August. I’ve lived and worked across regional Qld most of my life and I want to see more representation from engineers who are based in regional areas. Sure, we don’t build Queens Wharf type or Cross River Rail type mega-projects, but we do build and maintain critical infrastructure that ensures power gets where it needs to be ⚡, provides mining and rail infrastructure that allows coal royalties to be collected 🚂, and builds roads that get goods all over the country 🚚. I’d like to see local engineering groups grow and become more relevant to EA core business. A lot of regional engineering businesses are hurting with the lack of engineers of all disciplines willing to live and work in regional areas, leaving us fighting over the same tiny pool of people. Skilled migrants are absolutely part of the solution but engineering businesses shouldn’t be left with the substantial cost of bringing someone up to speed, post-masters course. Engineering as a career doesn’t seem to be cutting through the noise of numerous career options for high schoolers either. We also have to do better with female engagement – only 14% of engineers are female 👷♀️. This is a massive lost opportunity. With all of this, we can do better, and stronger local groups are a key part of this. Choosing me means picking a candidate with extensive experience, proven leadership, and a commitment to excellence - with a sprinkle of humour. I’m here to support our members, champion innovation, and promote local engagement. Vote for me 🗳️, and together we’ll make it happen! 💪

Managing Director - JJ Construction Recruitment | I Work Closely With Friendly, Dynamic & Industry Leading Businesses From Your PLC; Family Or Privately Owned Residential Developers To Regional Main Contractors
Is this going to be our HOUSEBUILDING ERA?! And maybe our chance to get on the property ladder who knows🤔🤞🏻✨⚒️👷♀️👷♂️🏡🏠⚒️⬇️ In her first speech since being named the first female chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves promises to ‘get Britain building again’ The plan is to bring economic growth back to the UK and here’s how ⬇️ ✅End the 2015 ban of onshore wind farms in England to speed up national infrastructure projects. They plan on doubling onshore wind energy by 2030 ✅Plans to build 1.5 million homes in England over the course of this parliament in the next five years. This means delivering 300,000 new homes a year ✅Overhaul planning restrictions. Planning decisions for major infrastructure projects in Britain will be made nationally rather than locally in a bid to stop important projects being tied up in years of red tape. Plans to reform the National Planning Policy Framework to help deliver new homes. ✅New boundaries will aim to prioritise Brownfield land & ‘grey belt’ land, which lies within green belt boundaries but consists of ‘poor quality land, car parks and wastelands’ ✅The transports and energy secretaries will priories decisions on infrastructure projects that have been sitting unresolved for far too long ✅Additional 300 planning officers to be recruited to speed up the planning process. ✅Reintroducing compulsory housebuilding targets previously scraped by the Conservative Party in December 2023 This is a very overdue and welcomed first step for a lot of people and businesses and seems very positive. Bellway, Berkeley Homes & Barratt’s have already praised the tone and content of the speech. What do we all think then? 🗣️
