As the first steel structures are erected, we're delighted to see the progress being made in the construction of HMP Highland, Scotland's first net zero prison. ♻️ Scheduled for completion in 2026, the facility is designed to run off renewable energy sources such as ground source heat pumps, to align with the Scottish Government’s low carbon targets for the project. 🛠️ We will also utilise modular construction methods to preassemble the internal wall panels and perimeter walls offsite in a controlled factory environment, significantly reducing carbon emissions.
This is fantastic progress. It's inspiring to see such innovative and sustainable construction methods being implemented. The use of renewable energy and modular construction is a great step towards a greener future.
