It’s that time of the year when our office needs your help with what’s new submissions. Compiling this information is very important so we can share news of tourism happenings in the Greater Merrimack Valley region with international, U.S., and local audiences.    The Greater Merrimack Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMVCVB) in conjunction with the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) will compile submissions into a bi-annual, statewide “What’s New in Massachusetts” for distribution to media, tour operators, consumers and at trade shows. HB Regional Council killing off tourism, which is a huge part of Hawke’s Bay’s economy for supporting businesses and growing jobs and helping make our region so awesome, isn’t the answer Hawke's Bay Regional Council. Perhaps council undertaking a corporate and operational structure review and using some of the $500m war chest, which includes $25m of properties in Wellington could be looked at instead? The Restaurant Association welcomes the decision by the new government to incorporate hospitality into the expanded tourism portfolio. The recognition of hospitality in the tourism portfolio underscores a respect for the pivotal role that our industry contributes to the NZ economy and the tourism experience While Tourism and Hospitality are inherently linked, Hospitality is often lost by the Government in conversations about the Tourism industry. Including "Hospitality" in the title, we are confident, is a positive step towards generating a more targeted emphasis on our sector within the government. This is something that we have advocated for, for a number of years. I know most you in tourism have gone through the Sustainable Development goals agenda 2030 to help you in crafting your long-term strategies. Here is what I think : 1. Guest services will still be shaping the overall guest satisfaction. 2. Play will still be the cornerstone of leisure and travel ( An article on this loading) 3. Providing Value will determine the success of any establishment 4. Having a strong brand equity will set you apart from competition 5. Having the right team will help deliver the promise of service excellence.
