Last month, we were invited to NutraIngredients Active Nutrition Summit in Amsterdam, as winners of their Start-up Stars competition. We were delighted with this award considering the calibre of the competition. More importantly, we met some great people and learned so much about this ever-changing landscape. The key takeaway from this event is the fact that this area is moving away from the traditional, vein-popping 'Men's Health' vibe and into the mainstream (although there is still room for this). However, mainstream doesn't necessarily mean being all things to all people, and that a deep dive into your offering and your audience is key. With the lines being blurred between performance and convenience (where does, for example, Grenade's Oreo protein bar sit?), it's critical to understand where you're playing.
