Do you agree that a prevalent challenge in electrical infrastructure projects is the loss of project control, resulting in delays to generating revenue? A major contributing factor to loss of project control is often misalignment among contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. At PSD Energy we have developed our EPC model to address these challenges. This model provides greater control over the various interdependencies in LV, MV, and HV projects and accelerating revenue generation. The ‘ ’ stands for Manufacturing and System Integration—all under the single umbrella of PSD Energy; design engineers, manufacturing, commissioning, civil construction and our own fleet of plant and equipment. PSD Energy maintains minimal dependence on external parties and international supply chains, ensuring a streamlined and efficient project delivery every time.

As we delve deeper into this article, we will explore the various types of interlocking mechanisms used for Gas-Insulated Substation (GIS), their applications in substations, power plants, and electrical installations, as well as their significance in ensuring the sustained safety and functionality of these vital components of the power transmission infrastructure. To start with the discussion, first let’s ask a few very important questions and try to give simple and straight-forward answers. How important is interlocking in power substations? For operational engineers and those involved in the management of substations, interlocking is not merely a procedural detail; it stands as one of the most critical aspects of their work. The seamless coordination and sequencing of actions, underpinned by interlocking, are central to maintaining the safety and reliability of substation operations. Recognizing the fundamental importance of interlocking, a comprehensive training program should also be developed to equip operational engineers with the requisite knowledge and skills. ***Installation Management of an Interarray Subsea Power Cable between Two Wind Turbine Foundations*** I will be discussing in brief installation of an interarray subsea power cable between two wind turbine foundations for effective project management. The installation of an interarray subsea power cable between two wind turbine foundations involves a multi-step technical process. Firstly, a cable lay vessel equipped with specialized cable laying equipment is positioned above the designated route. A pre-laid seabed cable route is surveyed to ensure accurate positioning. Next, a plow or trencher may be used to create a trench or furrow on the seabed, providing a protective pathway for the cable. The cable is then loaded onto a cable carousel on the vessel and fed into the trench as it moves forward. Tensioners ensure proper cable lay and minimize stress. At each wind turbine foundation, the cable is terminated and connected to the substation or converter platform. Fiber optic lines within the cable may also be spliced to enable communication and monitoring. Post-installation, the cable is buried or covered with protective materials to mitigate environmental and mechanical risks. It undergoes comprehensive testing to ensure electrical integrity and insulation. Technological advancements, such as real-time monitoring systems, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and dynamic cable positioning, enhance installation accuracy and safety. The process demands close coordination between vessel operators, cable engineers, and offshore personnel. Note Interarray subsea power cable installation involves vessel deployment, trench creation, cable laying, termination, burial, testing, and protection measures, all orchestrated to establish a reliable power connection between wind turbine foundations while considering environmental and operational factors. Thank you for your attention! I provide expert guidance in diverse projects, spanning oil and gas, subsea telecomms, underwater inspection, maintenance, repair (IMR), and renewable energy, with a focus on safety and efficient risk & project management. Feel free to contact me for assistance in these areas. #subseaengineering #offshorewindtechnology #interarraysubseapowercableinstallation #riskmanagement #projectmanagement #engineeringmanagement
