Oktoberfest is finally here. 🍺 Did you know that the first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig, who would later become King Ludwig I, married Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen? The festivities that took place for the royal wedding were so well-received that the horse races were repeated in the following years, giving rise to the annual tradition that was initially named Theresienwiese after the grounds on which it took place. Learn more about Oktoberfest, including its significance in modern times, and how you can capture the spirit of Oktoberfest from the comfort of your own home, with our in-depth blog.

🎉 Oktoberfest Munich is just around the corner! 🎉 Every year, starting in mid-September, Munich hosts Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer festival, bringing millions together to celebrate Bavarian culture. But in between of fun, „Dirndl“ and „Lederhose“ the 16-18 day event is as massive in scale as it is in energy consumption! Did you know that Oktoberfest guzzles down 3 million kWh of electricity every year? That’s enough energy to power 1,200 homes for 12 months! And let’s not forget the 40 km of power cables and 21 km of gas pipelines running beneath those beer tents. All this energy fuels everything from beer coolers to carnival rides—and, of course, the kitchens keeping those giant pretzels coming! 🥨 We like drinking beer, but we are also concerned about our planet... and would do everything possible to ensure we can enjoy our beer with a clear conscience. By using smart Energy Management Systems (EMS) events like Oktoberfest can cut energy use significantly. Imagine the savings in both cost and carbon footprint! 🌍⚡ At EnExpert, we’re always looking ahead. While we currently work with hotels, industries, and public institutions, we’re excited about the future—where we aim to collaborate with large-scale events, like Oktoberfest, to make festivals more sustainable and drive a greener future for everyone. 🌿 Until then, we wish all visitors a fun and enjoyable Oktoberfest. Prost to more sustainable festivals! 🍻 #Oktoberfest2024 #MunichOktoberfest #BavarianCulture #FestivalSeason #Prost #BavarianTradition # #MunichEvents #CelebrateOktoberfest #OktoberfestSpirit #BeerFestival #GermanTradition #MunichCalling #EnergyEfficiency #SustainableFestivals #GreenEnergy #EnergyManagement #EcoFriendlyEvents #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #EnergyInnovation #SmartEnergy #SustainableFuture #CarbonFootprint #EnergySolutions

Dear members of the LinkedIn Professionals community, We are thrilled to present an exciting international business opportunity that could transform your career landscape and open up new income streams! We are pleased to offer you the chance to organize a unique Mexican spectacle in your country. This event, which takes place over weekends, is an incredible opportunity to delve into the world of event business without having to leave your current jobs. Our show involves the management of a competition event with local and foreign competitors, or from other local cities, with the service and warmth typical of Mexicans. The races are just an excuse for the party, the dancing, the food, and the speed. For those interested in participating, it is important to note that organizing this event requires meticulous planning and an anticipation of at least six months. A whole group of at least 20 people will be hired to travel your place and give you the best show on earth. This is because time is needed to obtain visas, local permits, and manage all logistical details. From hotel bookings to selecting the right venue, we have considered every aspect to ensure your experience is flawless. The location can vary, from an airstrip with a consistent surface to a regular road with a suitable surface for the competition. We can even adapt to a street, using concrete barricades that can be removed at the end of the event to minimize environmental impact. Our goal goes beyond just organizing a speed event. We want to create a complete experience for participants and the local community. That's why we offer the opportunity to rent spaces for local businesses to promote themselves, promote tourism, and offer attendees a true immersion in Mexican culture.Imagine a fair full of flavor and fun, with traditional Mexican food like enchiladas, burritos, tacos, and delicious drinks like horchata and hibiscus water. All this while enjoying the speed show and later during dinner on mariachi music. This is your chance to be part of a profitable and exciting business! Visit our Facebook page https://lnkd.in/eHKn9g63 for more details and contact us to start planning your next speed event with a Mexican twist. We look forward to working together and bringing the excitement of speed and Mexican culture to your community!Sincerely, Carlos Mendoza. Car racer and event organizer.

So, we really did it. We put on Europe's highest disco, across three days and three venues, at heights up 3,000m above sea level, in the Swiss Alps. It wasn't easy, but it was wonderful – evidence of what's possible when like-minded people come together to something crazy. We had Erol Alkan and DJ Paulette spinning to crowds above the clouds, as the sun set on the snow-capped peaks of the Bernese Alps. A once-in-a-lifetime experience for anyone who was there. Too many people to thank, but shout-out to Joss Bibby, Stephanie Faucher, Thomas Ranger, Hugo Kibasi, Ellie Watkinson, Jamie Trendall and the rest of the incredible Detour team, to Christoph Egger and others at Schilthorn/Piz Gloria and Fran Lambert at Switzerland Tourism, Annie and co. at INEOS Grenadier, Peter and Thereisa at Wild Alps and everyone who arrived via trains, coaches and four astonishing cable cars to the top of the mountain. Everyone keeps asking, what's next? There is a venue planned for 2025, but Detour Discotheque is building momentum as more than just a fun weekend – it's an idea of community. It's about the shared power of experience. If that sounds like something you, or your brand, could get behind let us know: we're looking for partners for next year and beyond. As Lucy says in this lovely write up, one thing is for certain, "Detour Disco 2025 is guaranteed to be a hell of a party." Until then, peace, love and mirror balls. https://lnkd.in/eBneNFdu

Boat shows - What does the future hold? Some great insights were shared by Ed Slack after the recent IFBSO/ICOMIA Conference. Read the full article by following the link below. And share your comments and ideas about how we can develop and grow boat shows to add value to the organisers, boating industry and the VISITOR!
During the recent ICOMIA / IFBSO Congress, Ed Slack moderated a panel discussion on the value and future of boat shows. This must have been an engaging discussion. I hope more attendees share their insights via social media or Linked In so we can share along the important journey of maximizing boat shows for the industry's broader benefit. A few observations from his interesting article: 1. The Experiential Element Boating taps into all our senses, and therein lies the magic. To share this joy with newcomers, we need to capture some of that experience. A static show with boats on stands doesn't draw people in the same way. The NMMA's idea of bringing a "party" vibe is excellent. It can appeal to newcomers and add excitement without overshadowing serious buyers seeking information to finalize purchases. The examples of simulators and live-action events were fantastic and easily replicable. They mention the example of an America’s Cup simulator at a recent event and how it brought the event to “live”. During the recent Monaco Grand Prix, some superyachts had racing simulators onboard to keep guests engaged during racing lulls. 2. High Exhibiting Costs Companies are under pressure and must see the value of attending a show. Foot traffic and visitor numbers play a role, but tangible sales are equally important. Some companies need to work on their boat show presence and efforts to make the show a success, not solely relying on organisers to bring people in. On the flip side, organisers need a clear plan to entice visitors who could otherwise pop into a dealer's open day for a free beer and demo test drive. 3. Appealing to Non-Boating Customers Hillary Buckman of Ocean Media recently asked a critical question in her newsletter introduction: "Who is reaching out to the non-boating community?" (link in comments below) Other leisure pursuits are more attractive to newcomers. We should learn how to pique interest in our industry among time-strapped people. 4. No quick fix A long-term view is vital, understanding boat shows' compounding benefits. The trajectory should be upwards yearly, building on past lessons. Success requires industry-wide commitment, with companies investing time and thought into attracting clients from all circles, not just their own. We must grow the market, fostering interest and involvement to view boating as a rewarding career and family activity. The entire value chain is key - no customers, no boat show. It is a great article, so please follow the link below and read it. Then, please leave some comments and suggestions below. #ibi #ibinews #EdSlack https://lnkd.in/d6fjm2UQ

🌻 🌻 🌻 First of all, wish all of you good health in Dragon Boat Festival. 📖 📖 📖 Here is a poem from the Tang Dynasty period for appreciation as below: Dragon Boat Festival 🦖 🛶 Where did the Dragon Boat Festival come from? It has been rumored throughout history that it was Qu Yuan; It's ridiculous that if it's big, the mighty Miluo River, But it cannot wash away Qu Yuan's injustice. Historical and Cultural Significance The festival has a history of over two thousand years and is associated with various legends and traditions. One of the most popular legends is that it commemorates the death of Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet and minister who drowned himself in 278 BCE to protest against corruption in the imperial court. Villagers are said to have raced out in boats to save him or recover his body, which is believed to be the origin of dragon boat racing. Traditional Activities The Dragon Boat Festival is marked by several traditional activities: Dragon Boat Racing: This is the most iconic activity, where teams paddle long, narrow boats decorated with dragon heads and tails. The races are a major spectacle and are believed to have originated from the attempts to rescue Qu Yuan. Eating Zongzi: These are sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves, traditionally thrown into rivers as offerings to the Dragon God and to prevent fish from eating Qu Yuan's body. Drinking Realgar Wine: This wine is believed to ward off evil spirits and diseases. Hanging Mugwort and Calamus: These plants are hung on doors to repel insects and evil spirits. #manufacturing #innovation #semiconductor #Europe #Poem
