📣 Join us in spreading the word: 39% of 18-24-year-olds worldwide are facing severe or extremely severe anxiety, stress, or depression. Our young generation's mental health is at risk, but their future shouldn't be! ❎ The majority of under-25 years old are struggling, and it's time to act.  ❎ The proportion of people who are struggling with their mind health has returned to 2021 levels, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.  ❎ The majority of under-25s are among the populations identified as doing the worst: 39% are "languishing" ( 4 points compared to 2022) and 19% are "struggling" ( 1 point).  ❎ Younger people today seem disproportionately impacted by mind health issues than older generations. ➡ Early diagnosis, mental health education, and access to professional healthcare services are crucial. #ProtectWhatMatters #AXA4Inclusion

Are there studies on the causes of the disproportionate impact on mental health in the younger generation? I think in recent years crises have increased in terms of war, Natural catastrophes (caused by climate change) and of course the COVID-pandemic. From My Point of view, the younger generation is more in touch with their feelings and vocalizes them (because they go unheard otherwise). In the older generations affected by war (and the following generation affected by generational trauma) there often is no discourse and Maybe even no awareness on the effects on mental health. Stigmatization of mental illnesses being a sign of weakness plays a huge role in that. Shouldn‘t we ask ourselves how we can open the dialogue? How can we start to discuss anxiety not as inherently bad and start to work with rather against negative emotions?

No coincidence that this ties in with the high use of social media.

This is worrying. Our society should do something to protect our young people. But will they want that help if it means having to give up the use of certain social networks?
