I belong to the generation that, upon hearing the theme song of "Beverly Hills Cop," thinks not of the "Crazy Frog" but of "Yo Baby Yo Baby Yo - Say ow" [Youtube: https://lnkd.in/dbJer7iY].
Axel Foley, portrayed by Eddie Murphy, overcomes challenges in this movie series with ingenuity, courage, and an unconventional approach. These qualities are also crucial in today's business world's digital transformation.
🌆 𝘼𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣 𝙐𝙣𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙀𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩
➖ Just as Axel quickly adapts to the dazzling and sometimes enigmatic world of Beverly Hills, companies need to learn to navigate the constantly changing digital landscape.
➖ It's not just about implementing new technologies but also about shaping the corporate culture to promote openness and adaptability.
💡 𝙄𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣
➖ Axel solves problems in ways that often lie outside the traditional framework. In digital transformation, this means looking beyond the horizon and finding innovative solutions that challenge the status quo.
➖ Companies must be willing to take risks and pursue creative approaches to be successful in a digitized world.
📊 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙖𝙩𝙖
➖ Although Axel may not have worked with Big Data, his ability to collect and use information shows how crucial data is for solving problems.
➖ For companies, leveraging data and analytics to improve decision-making and enhance efficiency is a cornerstone of digital transformation.
🤝 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨
➖ Axel's success often relied on his ability to collaborate with a variety of characters, both within and outside the police department.
➖ Similarly, companies in the digital era must work across silos to drive innovation and achieve a more comprehensive transformation.
🦁 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚
➖ By drawing inspiration from Axel Foley, we can view digital transformation not just as technological upgrading but as an opportunity to fundamentally rethink our way of working.
➖ It's about being bold, creative, and adaptable – and ready to bend the rules to bring about real changes.
The digital transformation waits for no one - it's time to take the initiative.
Thank you, Axel F.

How did TV go from idiot box to golden age?

I think this video is pretty LinkedIn-able. I'm obsessed with how cultural changes happen at scale, and I have a bit of a hobbyhorse that business and technology determine a lot of it. Interested to see if people agree (or don't).
It's always incredible to see our partner's reaction when we help them connect to literally millions of new consumers/fans who they previously had zero access to within 1 month.
Sure, it takes a leap to do something that they've never done before but what reward comes without risk? The teams that take these types of leaps are coincidentally the teams that are seeing the highest returns across all territories.
Probably not so much a coincidence as it is a pattern... take enough calculated risks with high potential upside and reap the benefits.
Imagining the Worst, Planning for the Best!
Today, I learned something new. The Pre-Mortem, or "before death" It's a workshop that takes a deep dive into the unknown.
By addressing the 'worst,' we're better equipped to strive for the 'best' when navigating market trends. This approach underscores the significance of proactive planning and the power of collaborative thinking.
A massive shoutout to the TV 2 Norge and the KPU team for bringing their A-game and making today a blast.

The last newsletter of 2023! I asked a bunch of industry experts 15 questions about the future of media.
Most people agreed they would like to sell their next TV show to Netflix and invest money in Apple. They don't believe Disney should sell ESPN and they do believe AI will fundamentally change the visual effects business.. But there was far less consensus on who should be the next CEO of Disney – and who is the worst CEO in media.
I always find the answers to these questions helps illuminate my thinking, which is useful headed into the new year.

Wework: Once worth $47 billion, shares now trading below a dollar. #wecrashed is an excellent TV-show you can consider watching as an entrepreneur.
While the core business principle is making a profit by selling your product/service to the customer, few startup founders focus of getting more valuations to sell their idea to the investors. While, there are exception to raise capital based on the nature of business, this show gives you a wonderful insight on how valuations and unsustainable growth would lead to the fall in the end even if you are a unicorn.
These are the 5 things I learnt from the show/wework
1. Scaling too quickly can lead to significant liabilities that can quickly become a danger to the business.
2. While I admire the vision and confidence of Adam Neumann, Founder of Wework, it is important to ensure that we grow with sustainability.
3. Prioritize tangible value through products, services, and customer relationships more than the Valuation of the company
4. A company's culture is not just about the perks. It should be rooted in genuine values and being towards the company's mission and goals.
5. CASHFLOW is very vital. I cannot emphasize enough on this, as I am meeting a lot of founders miss out on this, while they focus more on their product and valuations

Apple & Disney - A match made in heaven? No, but…
Digitalization will lead to massive businesss model transformations in established industries. Traditional companies have failed & learnt their lessons trying their digital transformations; corporate culture everywhere has been eating strategy for breakfast and just getting fatter & more resistant. Now all eyes are on non-core acquisitions to turn industry business models on their heads.
I’m going to sit tight and watch how this will play out, because once Disney & Iger have successfully done their “non-core” merger, mark my words, the whole business world will be on fire. This will set the “fashion trend” of digital M&As going forward in all major capex/asset-heavy traditional industries. Interesting times ahead.

"In a streaming-first world, selling traditional media assets to maximize shareholder value rather than confronting daunting headwinds and uncertainty makes sense."
🏆 NEW ARTICLE: Ratings for most major awards shows have trended downwards for the better part of a decade–but, not for a lack of interest.
Gen Z is the most likely generation to express an interest in the #AcademyAwards despite being the least likely to tune in live. Instead, this generation of cord-cutters and -nevers has grown accustomed to engaging with these events via social media platforms.
As live awards shows make the move to streaming platforms, many have begun to wonder whether we might see a renaissance in the relevance of these events. But, in an era dominated by popular opinion, where anyone online is a critic, what role do awards shows play for younger generations today?
Read our latest article, chock-full of fresh data on what consumers think about awards shows, at the link below.
