As I close out my official first 6 months with Nextiva, here's my reflection: I'll be up front, as a recent college graduate, I had no clue what tech sales was. I had no clue how hard it was to break into tech sales, much less maintain a career in tech sales! A very kind, genuine, and supportive woman, Danielle Cadena, took a chance on this passionate, retired softball player. That being said, I took that chance and ran with it! Nextiva is on cloud9, and I am right there with it. The amount of knowledge I have gained throughout the past six months is unimaginable. What I've learned💡 - Confidence is key - Hard work is a privilege - Change is inevitable - Be the person people trust as a resource - Be direct: don't beat around the bush, worst they can say is NO! What would I tell myself 6 months ago? 🤔 - Take it one day at a time - Follow as many sales leaders on LinkedIn as possible - Showcase your EQ - Share your experiences with your peers: Wins and Losses - FAILURE IS NECESSARY FOR GROWTH That being said - I am so excited to see where I am another six months from now. I have A LOT of new connections and I am grateful for the opportunity to share a little more about me and my personal career journey rather than your typical BORING LinkedIn post. Thank you to all the great leaders that have given me the opportunity to learn and grow within these 6 months. Cheers🥂 #womenintech #growth #customerexperience #nextiva #uxcm

It's been 5 months at Datadog. People often ask why I joined Datadog, and the answer lies in a few reasons. 1. The product, growth numbers, as well as pace of innovation are amazing. This kickstarted my conversation with Datadog. The upside in growth (which translates pretty selfishly in commission and equity opportunities) is amazing 2. The relevance of the topic. Cloud migration and adoption is becoming a defacto business need. Majority of new business applications exclusively live in the cloud today, and Datadog is a cloud-native company, born in the cloud. 3. The opportunity to leave an impact by reshaping a major region for one of the most exciting tech companies on the market really got me. I enjoy building, so I just had to take this opportunity when it came up. I love how varied the days are at our job - each day presents different challenges, people, and locations. It never gets mundane, keeping us on our toes. In Enterprise Sales, we're getting the chance to influence some of the biggest brands in the world, contributing ho their success and their impact on our every day life- something I really enjoy about our profession. The dynamic team on the ground, coupled with engaging conversations with intelligent individuals—internally, with partners, and customers—adds to the awesome experience. We're in full-blown growth mode, and I'm thrilled about the future. Join us as we expand the team and shape growth in Central EMEA. https://lnkd.in/eJEK8D7y Steve Barrett Rich Perez Denis Herriau Hagen Pollmueller Tobias Dreyschultze Uwe Borgmann Pierre Thompson-Lukas Shah Nawaz Adam Kelly Anne Hawkins Amy Lancashire Nikki Rader

Prior to finding Cloudflare I jumped around a lot. I used to tell people I am bummed I didn’t find them sooner or get into tech sales right after college but I now look at this as a positive. Switching industries can enhance your adaptability by exposing you to diverse experiences, make you more versatile, broaden your perspective, and increase your ability to roll with the punches. Having a more well-rounded career path has led me to a lot of success because it gives me the ability to think differently and find a new way of doing things. It also has given me more understanding of what drives others, better overall communication skills, and a bigger network. What’s something you thought of as a negative but now see as a positive?

So I think I'm far enough removed from my military transition to write about it now. I was reluctant to do so at first because I didn't really know the outcome and I always plan for the worst. When do you know you've made it through OK? Many change jobs multiple times in the first three years. I have heard the horror stories and even attempted to coach some of my old Joes/Janes through the process when they encountered hurdles. But other than a bit of positivity, what can you do when you don't know and you haven't experienced it? So this was my process. * several years out, I worked to wrap up one of my degrees and started courting every certification, class, or experience that I thought would be helpful * 15 months out, I obsessed over my resume and began looking at locations dense with jobs in the technology field *12 months out, I began applying to DoD SkillBridge opportunities and even contacting recruiters for open positions advertising myself as free labor for 6 months I got a couple of bites, had a few interviews and a couple of great recruiters sent me a calendar invites for a follow up when I was closer to the transition. Most did not care to work with me until I was right up to the transition point. I found what I was looking for when I emailed Scott Ragsdale from Nutanix and told him I was interested in working with the company. Scott being a great salesman, had me on the phone within three days and convinced me on the spot (on a Zoom call in my car on lunch break) that this was where I wanted to be. "We've gotta get you out of that SCIF Chris!" And so they did. I worked with the Sales team for a bit, then they linked me up with support when I expressed that I wanted a more technical role. My transition went better than I could have ever expected. I write this because I know those who are planning to move on will encounter advice in one of two flavors. 1. You'll do fine, you have all these certs/degree (or) 2. Your not ready, it's rough out there, you should reenlist That advice is ill informed and they just don't know. They haven't experienced it yet. The thing that I sought out, but didn't really find, is a mentor who worked in the tech field and could help me narrow down the role I actually wanted. Once you know what you want, you can work towards it. You aren't married to Gov & Contracting just because you have a clearance and you have to put in the work if you want it to go smoothly. I never found that mentor in the tech field to help me narrow down roles and positions. If there is anyone in my network who is planning to move on (even in the distant future), then I'd be happy to jump on a call with you and chat from time to time. Don't fear the transition, plan for it. I don't know all the answers, but it's good to bounce ideas off of someone. I'll never turn down a call from a fellow service member.

For anyone hiring for enablement, marketing, or video professionals, Gus Gonzalez is one of the all-time best. He is experienced in enablement and business roles as well as executive search. He is also one of the warmest energies you could hope to bring to a team. I have it on good word that he has impactful video editing skills, too. Let me make an introduction!
Hello everyone, it has been awhile! Like many others are experiencing, I am now also #OpenToWork. I am excited for this new journey as I look for opportunities in #marketing, #enablement (Technical or Sales), or utilizing my #videoproduction skillset to create engaging content that resonates with today's velocity sellers. If anyone has a lead on a new opportunity, please feel free to DM me. That being said, thank you to all my wonderful team members over the years at Commvault, I truly enjoyed collaborating with each of you and look forward to staying connected!

I was on PTO last week and, unfortunately, was notified that my role, along with 4,200 colleagues at #Cisco, was eliminated. This was my first time going through this experience, so I wasn’t exactly sure how to navigate through this. The general emotions people experience are shock, grief, sorrow, anger, relief, guilt, and more. I had some mix of all the above. I didn’t know how to respond or react while hearing the news except to say okay and hang up the phone. After getting my bearings, I was reluctant to reach out to my friends and family to share the news because I felt embarrassed or feared disappointment from them. I reached out after a bit and found overwhelming support, encouragement, and empathy from my incredible support system. That was when I realized everything would be okay and I will endure this. I’ve had an incredible past 4 and 1/2 years at Cisco, where I’ve met some of the most intelligent people. I’ve learned many technologies I didn’t know I would be interested in or work on. I am now on the market for a new role in Technical Marketing/Product Marketing. I am also interested in roles in Product Management and Technical Sales. My experience in the past few years is mainly in Networking, specifically Enterprise Wireless and IoT technologies in hardware and software. I am open to learning new technologies. My ask is: 1. Engage with this post by Liking, Commenting, reposting, sharing, etc., for more reach and visibility. 2. Reach out to me if any role would fit the above. I am open to introductions, recommendations, or referrals. Email: [email protected] 3. Please connect with me if you need someone to talk to and share your experiences. Let’s get through these tough times and turn them into opportunities together. #CiscoLayoffs
