Method: Methodological study that followed the steps: construction of the instrument; content validation using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation II (AGREE II) assessment tool; and applicability analysis with a semi-structured questionnaire with the nursing team and by agreement and Kappa test. Results: In the situational diagnosis stage, the protocol was elaborated based on the literature review and validated by the specialists through the AGREE II instrument with a general content validity index value of 0.93 and through the analysis of applicability with Kappa test analysis, obtaining a value of 0.81, with almost perfect agreement. Conclusion: The protocol was structured with quality to guide the nursing team in assisting burned patients. Therefore, its use is indicated. Original article with the aim to build and validate an educational video for nurses on the management of neuropathic ulcers. Method: Methodological study carried out in four stages: script/storyboard production; content and face validation of the script/storyboard with judges in a virtual environment judges in July 2018; video editing; and semantic validation with representatives of the target audience. The video script was validated by nine specialists in the subject and eight technical judges. For semantic validation, a focus group was used with nine nurses, in August 2018, in an outpatient clinic of a higher education institution in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Results: The video was entitled “Evaluation for the management of neuropathic ulcer associated with leprosy” and lasted 18 minutes and 32 seconds. For all questions, a content validity index of more than 78% was obtained, in a single round. The suggestions issued by the judges promoted changes in the scenes, with the inclusion of images, photos, and more accessible language. Conclusion: The video was considered valid by judges and the target audience and may contribute to nurses’ updating on the subject, with positive effects on care for people with leprosy. 💡Did you know? "Up to 25% of patients admitted to a post-acute care unit experience either a lingering or new-onset delirium." "Delirium is a common and under-recognized condition affecting patients during times of illness or injury and is associated with poor short and long- term outcomes. Although primarily considered a complication during hospitalization, delirium can persist, recur, or initially present during a post-acute stay in a skilled nursing facility. Little is known about delirium care knowledge, confidence, and practices by nurses in post-acute facilities." Check out: Nurses' Knowledge, Confidence, Detection and Actions Related to Delirium Care in the Post-Acute Setting | Published in Delirium Communications (https://bit.ly/3TvYV58) To learn more on how "Nurses play a vital role in detecting, managing, and preventing delirium." I am asking for your help. My survey for TN licensed APRNs (Nurse practitioners, CNS, Midwives and CRNAs) closes this weekend. Please help me by completing the survey if you’re a Tennessee APRN -or- By reposting or directly sharing this with a Tennessee-licensed APRN in your life. The data collected represents the most specific and comprehensive look to date, at our profession’s thoughts surrounding Full Practice Authority in Tennessee. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers. I’m hoping to capture and deliver data that will not only represent the voices of APRNs (instead of having others tell us what we believe and want) as well as look for opportunities to improve access to care - Did you know: -TN has the 8th most licensed APRNs in the nation -93 out of 95 counties do not have sufficient access to primary care -TN has the second highest number of rural hospital closures in the nation -APRNs in TN are located primarily in rural, underserved areas -Full Practice Authority does not stop collaboration and referrals to physicians Seems like the math here doesn’t add up, but we can’t be sure without data. You can access the survey here ->https://redcap.link/APRN

With this week being Nurse Appreciation week, and this month being Oncology Nursing month, I figure I would combine the two and wish all the nurses, especially oncology nurses, a week and month of applause and recognition. The care we provide to such a fragile population is amazing. Listening, supporting, and assisting these brave people to fight illnesses are incomprehensible, destructive, and debilitating is something not every person is capable of doing. I couldn't be more honored to being part of the oncology nursing specialty. While it's important to recognize the hard work we all do, it's equally important to recognize the issues that pertain to the profession of nursing. Shortages, a lack of support from institutions, bullying, outright assaults toward nursing staff, lack of proper pay, and lack of proper representation for LVN/LPN and CNA/PCTs are just some of the things we need to bring to light. We need and must advocate for change - to establish an environment that promotes safety, inclusion, and proper support for all nursing staff must be the foundational goal. A strong nursing staff benefits not only the profession, but the general population as a whole.

"Nursing Book Recommendations As I reflect on my nursing program journey, I wanted to share with my fellow nurses and healthcare professionals the top books that helped me excel in my studies, particularly in critical care. 1. "Critical Care Nursing" by Urden, Stacy, and Lough - A comprehensive guide to critical care nursing, covering everything from cardiac to neurologic care. 2. "Nursing Pharmacology" by Richard A. Lehne - A must-read for understanding pharmacology and its application in nursing practice. 3. "Medical-Surgical Nursing" by Lewis, Heitkemper, and Dirksen - A thorough resource for medical-surgical nursing, covering various patient populations and conditions. 4. "Cardiovascular Nursing" by Woods, Sivarajan Froelicher, and Underhill - A valuable resource for understanding cardiovascular health and disease management. 5. "Nursing Research" by Polit and Beck - A great introduction to research methods and critical appraisal in nursing. These books not only helped me succeed in my studies but also prepared me for the challenges of real-world nursing practice. I highly recommend them to all nursing students and professionals looking to expand their knowledge and skills. What are your favorite nursing books?
