70% of operational transformations fail. In today's unpredictable landscape, there's a rush to transform businesses, but it's a fact that often gets overlooked. Here's why these efforts fail and what you can do about it: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 Many companies jump into transformation with unclear goals, leading to a lack of focus and inefficiencies. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 Employees often view transformation as a threat, not an opportunity. Failing to address this can undermine your efforts. 𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐬 Transformation isn't just about technology; it's about people. Many companies underestimate the need for upskilling their team. 𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Having a plan is one thing, executing it is another. The devil is in the details. 🛠️ 𝐒𝐨, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬? 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐡𝐲 Clearly define the objectives and communicate them across all levels. 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Make your team part of the solution, not the problem. Encourage dialogue and address concerns. 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 Allocate resources for upskilling your team, from leadership to the front lines. (𝘗𝘳𝘰 𝘛𝘪𝘱: 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘗𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵; 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘸𝘩𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦) 𝐈𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭 Transformation is a journey, not a destination. Be ready to adapt your strategies as you go and pivot when necessary. Remember, successful transformation is not just about changing your operations, but also about changing your organizational culture and mindset. #operationsmanagement #management #transformation

This week’s #wisdomwednesday statement continues the theme of effectiveness vs. efficiency. An important element of Synchronous Management is synchronizing the flow. When synchronizing the flow, it is important to understand the difference between being efficient and being effective. Many organizations believe that to be effective, they need to drive high efficiency everywhere within the organization. In many cases, the measurement systems within the organization are geared towards driving high efficiencies at every process. However, effectiveness is the ability to drive improved results with the existing resources, and providing more value for the customer, while simultaneously improving business outcomes. I have been in many organizations that focused on efficiency but were not very effective. Another way to look at it is efficiency is doing things right, and effectiveness is doing the right things. To become more effective, the organization needs to shift its mindset, and in most cases the mindset needs to shift to the following statement. To make the organization more effective, most processes in the organization must be less efficient. Organizations that can make this shift in mindset can achieve a breakthrough in organizational improvement. #organizationalperformance #operationalexcellence #effectivenessvsefficiency
