Three New Dimensions of Automotive UX: A Glimpse into the Future of Vehicle Interiors My recent visit to the Automotive Interiors Expo stimulated my #HMI and #UX brains. As I navigated through the aisles, interacted with exhibitors, and absorbed the latest trends, three key aspects emerged as core drivers of future vehicle interiors: 1. Illuminating the Driving Experience: How Light Allows New Interactions Light is an undeniable influencer of mood and UX. From mood lighting to intelligent illumination that adapts to driving conditions, we must harness the power of light to enhance the driving experience. How can we seamlessly integrate interior lighting to convey information, guide navigation, and create a sense of immersion? How can we create value by using light as an interaction channel between car and driver? 2. Interacting with the Vehicle Beyond Screens: Interactive Surfaces Come Alive Interactive surfaces are no longer confined to touch screens. We are witnessing a surge in innovative technologies that transform the interior into a canvas for interaction. How can we reimagine the way we interact with vehicles, breaking free from traditional interfaces and embracing a new world of controls? How can we create value by using vehicle interior as interaction channels? 3. Fabric and Leather: Crafting Emotional Connections with Materiality Fabric and leather are not just upholstery materials; they have the potential to enhance UX. How can we leverage the sensory appeal of these materials to create a more immersive and engaging driving experience? Can we weave haptics into the fabric to provide feedback during interactions? How can we create value by making fabrics and leather interactive? These three dimensions – light, interactive surfaces, and materiality – will shape the future of automotive UX, transforming vehicles into personalized, intuitive, and emotionally connected spaces. Stay tuned for more insights as we delve deeper into these emerging trends. What are your thoughts on these emerging trends in automotive UX? How long do you see your car from the outside? Automotive interiors drive user experience! Vehicle exteriors play a strong role in brand building and attraction of cars. Usually, it is the first impression you get of a vehicle. Once in use, you see your car far longer from the inside than from the outside. Interior design, #HMI solutions, and user interaction are dominant drivers of #UX. This supports brand building, loyalty, differentiation from competitors, and building emotional relationships between user and car, customer and brand. If you want to know how to do this, how to perfectly invest your resources, time and money, just give me a call! I bring my clients into a position to make the best possible decisions. #maketechnologysexy Photo by Mihai Moisa on Unsplash

DISPLAYS: Continental integrates face authentication into #cars for extra #security Continental has introduced its Face Authentication Display, developed in collaboration with BASF SE subsidiary trinamiX GmbH. Wilfried Hermes, director of consumer electronics at TrinamiX, highlighted the technology's superiority in providing top-notch security standards for exterior and interior applications. Dr. Boris Mergell Mergell, head of the user experience (UX) business area at Continental, explained, “For us, #userexperience is defined not only by functional and technical aspects but also by aesthetic appeal. Sophisticated convenience and safety functions – which are not visually noticeable when in use – are a complete success for us in this respect.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ebrXkBWE #Automotive #Interiors #AutomotiveInteriors #AutomotiveIndustry #Facialrecognition #AutomotiveDesign #AutomotiveInteriorsDesign #Design #Engineering #Manufacturing #Technology #Transportation #AutoInExpo #AutoIntExpoNovi #GACS

Finding the right #textures for #rendering #automotive surfaces is crucial as it significantly impacts the overall #quality and realism of the final visualizations. Realistic textures simulate reflections, surface imperfections, and subtle details, making the renderings visually stunning and believable, enhancing the presentation of #design concepts and facilitating better decision-making during the design process. In a competitive market where #aesthetics and #perceivedquality influence consumer preferences, realistic renderings can significantly impact the success of a product. I found that Sketchup Texture Club offers a diverse selection of high-quality textures tailored for rendering projects, making it a valuable resource for automotive designers and rendering artists seeking to elevate their #visualizations. Explore their collection at Sketchup Texture Club, and hope it will be useful in bringing your automotive #designs to life. https://lnkd.in/ewFKjHSy #pq #ux

🚗✨ Finding UX Inspiration in Unexpected Places Last week, during a rainy day in northern Italy, I stumbled upon the automobile museum in Turin. I was captivated by the design of Fiat, Ferrari, and Alfa Romeo. Reflecting on this experience, I realized how the design of cars parallels interface design. Just as our choice of car reflects our personality, the interface of a company's system mirrors its character. From the clean lines of Alfa Romeo to the innovation of Ferrari, I draw inspiration for my UX design work. Like a well-designed car cockpit enhances the driving experience, intuitive interfaces elevate digital interaction. So, next time you admire a beautifully designed car, consider the design principles at play. You might find the inspiration you need to drive your creative projects forward. #UXDesign #Inspiration #AutomotiveDesign #UserExperience

Fascinating insights into Japanese design! it's inspiring to see how functionality meets aesthetics. The attention to detail in ticket gates and wavy handrails showcases a commitment to user experience. #DesignInnovation
UX in Japan - Volume 12 Let's take a look at some clever design ideas I discovered during my travels! 🤩 Floor Signs The hotel near Mount Fuji features a charming floor indicator design. 🚃 Seats on the train As the train runs along the coast, seats on the Izu-bound trains are arranged to face the windows, providing passengers with a more enjoyable view. 🥢 Transformer Chopsticks I was in a rush, so I grabbed a small ekiben on the go and hastily asked the cashier for chopsticks. Turns out, the mini bento already came with a pair of chopsticks, and I didn't notice. 🎟 Ticket Gates The ticket gate at the station has recently adjusted the card-swiping angle to better align with ergonomic principles. Another introduced a machine type even alters the angle more drastically. 🛝 Wavy Handrail Wavy handrails are designed to improve grip with increased friction. It's remarkable how a minor alteration in form can significantly improve the convenience. 🚲 Signs on the ground This road sign combines an exclamation mark with a bicycle, reminding both pedestrians and drivers to be cautious of vehicles on the road. 📝Have you observed any intriguing designs during your travels? 📍 If you enjoyed this post, please hit the like button! Why is deer leather perceived differently? Is it the rarity, the unique tactile experience, or the traditional craftsmanship that sets it apart? How do ethical considerations influence its perception compared to traditional leather? #luxury #ux #pq #design #leather #material #sustainability #nature #car
