Partnerships! Want to go fast, go alone. Want to go far, go together! Take advantage of the many opportunities partnerships offer, such as business model innovations, added talent resources, competencies and capacity. Learn more here in this lesson on Partner Ecosystems. In this lesson the focus is on building, developing, and enabling a Partner Ecosystem for innovation that is versatile. It must support strategic choices with robust talent, resources, and capabilities. Unlike the value chain of linear pipeline businesses that we discussed in the prior lesson on “Enterprise Value” with its singular directional flow of value through key players to direct and control demand – from the company to end-users, modern-day businesses must build Partner Networks that are nonlinear (bi-directional) to accept demand flowing – from end-users back into the company. This requires different and new types of partner relationships – particularly for companies with pipeline business models. https://lnkd.in/gdvD9H3r

Demand for #chips has risen dramatically in the car industry in line with #electricvehicle production and the need for increasingly complex software, BUT supply has been slow to follow because of the complexity in setting up chip factories. #Volkswagen believes automative chips will be in short supply globally directly from manufacturers including #NXP #SEMI, #Infineon Technologies and #Renesas Electronics ,so they had begun purchasing strategically important #chips. "Global market capacity is not sufficient. We must get active," they said. The German #carmaker, which previously relied on its #component suppliers to purchase chips. Volkswagen and Franco-Italian chipmaker #STMicroelectronics announced plans last July to co-develop a new #semiconductor, marking VW's first direct relationship with SEMI supplier. However, volkswagen has not struck a direct supply relationship with #TSMC but meets with them every few weeks to communicate its demand situation. Berlin has been courting the world's largest contract chipmakers with billions of euros in subsidies. #Intel and #TSMC this year announced plans to build factories in Germany. Volkswagen also plans to reduce the variety of chips required in its #vehicles to simplify the supply chain, which will also help simplify its software offering. What are your thoughts on the TSMC plans to establish a €10bn chip plant in Germany? Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker, is embarking on a significant strategic move by partnering with Bosch, Infineon, and NXP to establish a €10bn chip plant in Germany. This initiative is driven by TSMC's global diversification strategy, a response to customer concerns regarding geopolitical tensions. By venturing into Europe, TSMC aims to reduce its reliance on its Taiwan manufacturing base and establish regional production hubs, enhancing the resilience of its supply chain and addressing the risks associated with potential disruptions to semiconductor supplies from geopolitical uncertainties. Collaborating with leading European companies in the semiconductor and automotive sectors, TSMC is poised to tap into the growing demand for chips driven by electric vehicles and autonomous driving applications. This move aligns with TSMC's commitment to serving the strategic capacity and technological needs of its customers, particularly in the automotive and industrial fields. The partnership also underscores TSMC's proactive approach to staying competitive in the global market by expanding its production capabilities across key regions and sectors, while mitigating the impact of potential risks stemming from geopolitical challenges.
