In the courtroom, echoes of the past ring loud as retired vice-admiral Haydn Edmundson firmly denies allegations of sexual assault from over three decades ago. A storied career meets a stark accusation—a narrative that brings forth a maelstrom of questions concerning accountability, the passage of time, and the seeking of justice. - What does this mean for the future of military accountability? - How will this impact those who serve and have yet to serve? As the trial unfolds, one prediction stands: the outcome will likely reverberate through the halls of our naval institutions and beyond, potentially reshaping our conversations around misconduct and historical claims. - Will transparency in the process restore faith in the system? - Can justice truly be timeless? From admiralty to the courtroom, the tide of public opinion is as unpredictable as the sea itself. 🌊⚖️ #NavalTrial #MilitaryAccountability #JusticeSystem #Leadership #EthicsInTheService Join me in a deeper dialogue on these pressing issues. The word Sergeant comes from the Medieval Latin word servientum, meaning “servant”. As a Master Sergeant, that means I am a Master Servant. Not only in the service of the Air Force and Nation, but also those I serve with. Lately, I’ve been seeing the trend of SNCOs not taking care of there people and only being in the service of themselves. It’s disheartening to watch the frontline troopers have their needs neglected, while those on higher ranks only look to ensure they and their fellow SNCOs are taken care of. They live by the mantra “it sucked for me, so it can and will suck for them”. Why can’t they see that it doesn’t have too? Why are they unable to get out of their own way and take care of the people and be of service? Like Uncle Ben said “With great power, comes great responsibility”. If you are in a Leadership role or position, take a look inside and make sure your taking care of your folks. Make sure you are there for them, sometimes a little bit goes a long way. I do my best to ensure my folks have what they need as well as some of the comforts they deserve to ensure they are taken care of. As my time in the AF winds down, this is one of the many things I reflect on. If you take care of the people and truly care…they will take care of the mission. -DA #Leadership #Followership #Service #Mission #Care #SpiderMan

In the course on national security and Intelligence that I teach, the module on leadership is the most popular among defence, military, law enforcement and intelligence scholars and practitioners. The greatest challenge every leader faces is to manage himself or herself. It is to discipline one’s own thoughts, words and actions - because the best project you'll ever work on is you.

As I approach the second anniversary of my military retirement, I find myself in reflection. 🌟 Awarded the #MeritoriousServiceMedal (MSM) with a second bronze oak leaf cluster upon retirement, I recognize the universality of the values and lessons learned during my diverse #MilitaryCareer, culminating in a pivotal role as the Assistant Operations Officer of a Transregional Criminal Investigation Unit. Leading comprehensive investigations in the US and Italy and serving as a supervisory special agent overseeing and participating in team-based executive protection for high-profile senior leaders such as Secretary of the Army John McHugh, Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, and Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter, were not just military achievements but demonstrations of universal principles like #Leadership, effective #Communication, and #StakeholderEngagement. 🌐 Collaborating with a spectrum of partners, from local to international, emphasized the importance of #Adaptability and #Teamwork in resolving complex challenges, a lesson relevant to all professions. The support and #Mentorship I received along the way were instrumental, underscoring the value of #ContinuousLearning and mutual growth – principles that continue to guide my work in program management at Parsons Corporation 💼 For everyone on a journey of #ProfessionalGrowth, whether transitioning from #MilitaryService or climbing the #CareerLadder, I hope my story serves as a reminder of the boundless opportunities that #Dedication, adaptability, and a #PursuitOfExcellence can unveil.
