“Airlines MUST do more to accommodate Plus-Size passengers!“ The above statement is a paraphrase from recent requests from plus size passengers in the United States. They believe that airlines need to make seats larger to accommodate them, and at one point the federal government weighed in on the topic. #Finnair ask passengers to step on scale before boarding flight (CBS News). We can only wonder how this will go down with the plus size advocates. Finland-based #airline Finnair is asking customers for a sensitive piece of personal information before they board flights: their body weight. The airline said it's collecting the data anonymously from volunteers, and passengers are not required to step on scales to fly with the airline. Those who do will not have their weights shown publicly; only the customer service agent can view the number (CBS News). Perhaps this is a part of the #airlines larger plan to make the requested accommodations for #plussize passengers. Right now we can only speculate. https://lnkd.in/gcqrXWCf

In the airline industry - like any - some start-ups come and go, while others see longer term success. In the article, OAG's Chief Analyst, John Grant, tracks the airlines from pre-pandemic to 2023 that have been launched and continue to operate, and those that have disappeared either in name or operation. https://hubs.li/Q027wfZX0 #Airlines #AirlineIndustry #Aviation

For quite some time now we’ve been told “private jets” are causing climate change. Now we are to blame for this as well? That’s right, Airlines for America (A4A) wrote, in a letter to the DOT, that increased commercial delays and cancellations during the recent holiday period were, in large part, due to “significant non-scheduled aviation operations (i.e., business and private aviation volume)”. It seems that target on our back just keeps getting bigger, and more groups are showing up to shoot. What will it be next? Private jets cause homelessness? Business aviation leads to geo-political instability? General aviation hampers giant panda breeding programs? Perhaps, like so many others have apparently chosen to do, my New Years resolution should have been: If it doesn’t go my way, I’ll blame private jets. After all, it’s far easier to just yell “private jets” than to look for the real cause of the problem. So here goes: The eye-watering price of a 14 lb bone-in prime rib this holiday season… private jets; Alabama’s Rose Bowl overtime loss to Michigan… those darn private jets; That mysterious noise from the AC duct above my office… private jets of course. What else would it be? If only it were that simple, I’d never need to find, accept, or fix, the real cause of anything. Like the Just Stop Oil types when it comes to climate change, or A4A when it comes to airline delays. It’s a good thing business and general aviation is Climbing. Fast. in 2024. And we must... so we can get above the seemingly endless supply of [mis]guided missiles being aimed at us.
A recent letter from the airlines' lobby group to the DOT alleged that business aviation played a role in their delays. NBAA cleared the air with the facts!
