This initiative focuses on repurposing and reinventing recyclable waste from both their lodges, the local community, and neighbouring properties. The project exemplifies African Monarch Lodges’ ongoing efforts to contribute positively to conservation and community development. See how impressed the Judges were 👇 "We’re beyond impressed at how far this initiative has come considering it was only started in Covid times. To see both the practical benefits to the wider community of waste disposal and recycling, and the soft power of the education and community immersion is superb. African Monarch Lodges provides a best-in-class example of how tourism and local communities really can co-exist and both profit from a financial and emotional perspective". If you would like to learn more about our experience filming an episode for Our Sustainable World on #sustainable #tourism in #Namibia, you can check out this awesome article by Gondwana Collection Namibia! 🌿 Talya Shalev
𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 The team behind Our Sustainable World, a documentary series spotlighting businesses aligning with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, recently journeyed through East and Southern Africa to showcase inspiring sustainability efforts. In Namibia, Gondwana Collection Namibia was one of the selected businesses highlighted as an example of sustainable and responsible tourism. The team filmed at three Gondwana properties, namely Palmwag Lodge and Camp, The Desert Grace and Canyon Lodge. At the heart of Gondwana's ethos lies a commitment to conservation and sustainability. The roots trace back to the founding principle of financing rewilding and conservation projects in Namibia's southern region. This dedication manifests prominently in the Gondwana Canyon Park, where over 100,000 hectares of open, unfenced land provide a sanctuary for wildlife. Notably, strategically placed watering holes ensure essential hydration for local fauna, while tree planting initiatives pave the way for regenerative tourism, ensuring future generations enjoy a thriving ecosystem. 🌿🌍Collaboration is key when it comes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals! At The Waste Museum, we believe that #partnershipforthegoals #sdg17 are crucial for creating a sustainable future for all. That's why we're proud to have impart #circularity on the students from Department of Wildlife and EcoTourism at the University of Ibadan through our collaboration. Regenerative development | Redesigning tourism from the ground up | Building resilient places|The Tourism CoLab & Communiversity | Local2030 Islands Network |
This looks mighty impressive as a policy response to the regenerative shift 👀 This is how you can fund and scale. The NZ government announced new investment priorities for its International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy The International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy will invest in tourism projects that are or have the potential to be nationally significant or that are addressing shared industry challenges. The investments recognise that our environment is our most precious taonga. The 4 priority areas for the tourism portion of the fund are: - supporting a transition to a regenerative, resilient tourism model - reducing tourism’s environmental impact - improving the way in which tourism serves communities and local economies - upholding Māori rights and interests in tourism and supporting Māori to participate in proposed projects if they wish. Priorities for the conservation portion of the fund have also been updated and will focus on protecting and restoring indigenous biodiversity and responding to visitor pressures on conservation and the environment. Check out the Investment plan here: https://lnkd.in/gWxwvDj3 #RegenerativeTourism #RegenerativeDevelopment #DestinationManagement #TourismLevy #TourismPolicy #Courage #ClimateAction #LeadingChange #IdRatherBeThere

🌿 Sustainability and Wealth Equality in Namibia 🌿 The Wolwedans Foundation's 'Vision 2030 - The AridEden Project' is not just about conservation but also about fostering sustainable tourism that benefits all. Over the years, they've transformed the NamibRand Nature Reserve, creating low-impact ecotourism sites that generate revenue, jobs, and hope for remote communities. Now, through the RuralRevive initiative, they're extending their mission to the marginalized Nama community of Maltahöhe District. By addressing the challenges brought by climate change and economic decline, we're working towards a brighter future for all. Are you interested in the RuralRevive project as a philanthropist, entrepreneur or academic? Do you wish to contribute or just to know more? https://ow.ly/si2n50PQ5FK Julius Baer Wolwedans #Sustainability #WealthEquality #NamibRand

Our responsibility as citizens towards the success of Ecotourism in Mozambique. Embracing responsible and sustainable practices in our day-to-day lives is essential for preserving the natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural heritage that make our country a unique and attractive destination. This responsibility does not solely lie in the hands of the Government and/or Non Government institutions, it is our responsibility as Mozambican citizens to educate ourselves and deciding what role we will play towards achieving success in the race to protect the environment. In order to achieve this we need to: Practicing responsible waste disposal and recycling to minimize the impact on the environment. Avoid littering and participate in community clean-up initiatives. Being mindful of water usage, especially in regions facing water scarcity. Simple measures like fixing leaks, using water-saving appliances such as buckets, and avoiding unnecessary water wastage contribute to sustainable water management. Saving energy by using energy-efficient appliances, turning off lights and electronic devices when not in use, and supporting renewable energy initiatives. (Reduced energy consumption helps minimize the carbon footprint and contributes to a more sustainable environment.) Choosing to support local businesses that prioritize sustainability and responsible tourism practices. Preserving and promoting cultural heritage in order to contribute to the unique and authentic experiences that attract eco-conscious visitors interested in both nature and local culture. Staying informed about the importance of eco-tourism and sustainable practices. Sharing this knowledge with friends, family, and community members to create a culture of environmental responsibility. Combating illegal wildlife activities by reporting poaching or trafficking incidents. Promoting wildlife conservation and responsible tourism practices that protect endangered species and their habitats. Practicing sustainable fishing and agriculture methods to protect marine and land ecosystems. Overfishing and harmful agricultural practices can negatively impact biodiversity and, eventually, the tourism industry. Engaging in local initiatives and community projects that promote environmental conservation and sustainable tourism. The collective effort of local communities, businesses, and individuals is essential for preserving Mozambique's natural wonders and cultural heritage for future generations. #EcoMozambique #SustainableTravelMZ #GreenGetaways #NatureInMozambique #ResponsibleTourism #nature #Conservation #Mozambique #Wildlife #EcoFriendly #EneidaPitroce #GreenEscapeMZ #MozambiqueEcoAdventures #Sustainability #OceanFriendly #Biodiversity #Safaris #PreserveMozambique #ExploreWithPurpose By: Eneida Pitroce
