It highlights a rare presentation of advanced gastric cancer, which was initially indicated by an inguinal hernia in a young patient, thereby emphasizing the complexity and interconnectedness of medical conditions. We are proud to announce that Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center's poster, titled "Systemic Assessment of Manual Circular Stapler versus Powered Circular Stapler for Anastomosis in Rectal Cancer: a large-scale Chinese multicenter prospective cohort study," is being showcased at the 32nd international congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), held from June 11th to 14th. Research Focus: The study involved over 400 patients from leading institutions, including Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, Changhai Hospital, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and the First Bethune Hospital of Jilin University. Findings: The IntoCare powered circular stapler demonstrated a significant reduction in anastomosis time, with a safety profile similar to manual staplers. Additionally, it showed a lower incidence of postoperative complications, suggesting improved postoperative healing and stability. The treatment of gastrointestinal cancers has progressively evolved towards a more molecular-based approach and nowadays medical oncologists are better equipped to target specific subtypes of GI cancers, resulting in more personalised and effective therapies. Increasingly, the application of #PrecisionOncology calls for education and a multidisciplinary approach, involving collaboration with experts from diverse medical fields such as surgery, radiation, interventional radiology, and molecular pathology. Dr. jeffrey velotta, MD, FACS, a Global Faculty member at Stanford CARE, has recently been featured on the front page of AATS (American Association for Thoracic Surgery) Daily News. Dr. Velotta’s research on improving lung cancer outcomes was presented at the AATS 104th Annual Meeting. His research provides valuable insight into the timing of lung cancer surgery, finding that for patients treated within eight weeks, long-term mortality decreased and survival was improved. After eight weeks, there was nearly a 20% increase in mortality at five years. Furthermore, if the patient waited even longer, i.e., 10 to 12 weeks, mortality rates rose as high as 31%. Lux, Principal Investigator, represents a pivotal step following the success of the Polarhis trial, which showed a remarkable potential for reducing reoperation rates by up to 75%. 🔬 The PMPF SHIELD study, conducted at Frauen- und Kinderklinik St. Louise Paderborn in Germany, is a prospective endeavor that employs the Histolog Scanner in real-time to provide surgical guidance for a complete tumor resection.
